Pohl Claims First Women's Cross Country Athlete of The Week Award
OGDEN, Utah – Senior Veronica Pohl was named the season’s first women’s cross country Big Sky Conference Athlete of the Week after she took home the women’s individual title at the George Kyte Classic this past Saturday. This is her fourth athlete of the week award for cross country.
Last season, the Germany native took home the award three times
on her way to garnering All-American honors.
Pohl kept a steady pace at the front of the pack at the Buffalo
Park course this past weekend and crossed the line first in a time
of 17:16, 12 seconds better than the second place finisher. Her
first place finished helped the Lumberjacks take home both titles
at the George Kyte Classic.
Also taking home the award for the men this week was Eastern
Washington’s Kyle King. He led the Eagles to a sweep over
Inland Northwest rivals Gonzaga, Idaho, and Washington State.
Next up for Pohl and the Lumberjacks is the Aztec Invitational
hosted by San Diego State on September, 19.
