    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona head volleyball head coach Ken Murphy announced the hiring of Rachel Dunlap as assistant coach on Wednesday, providing a certified boost to the Lumberjack staff. Dunlap arrives at NAU following a year as a volunteer assistant coach at Yale this past season.
  • NAU Sweeps Big Sky All-Sports Awards for Fourth Time in School History

    OGDEN, Utah – For the second time in four years, and the fourth time in school history, the Northern Arizona University Athletics Department swept the Big Sky Men's and Women's All-Sports Trophies, announced by the conference office on Monday. The Lumberjacks won a total of seven Big Sky Conference championships during the 2016-17 academic year and also received strong performances from several other programs.
  • NAU Graduates 44 Student-Athletes During Spring Commencement Ceremonies

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Among the nearly 5,000 Northern Arizona University graduates this weekend will be 44 Lumberjack student-athletes, who will receive their diplomas during the commencement ceremonies Friday and Saturday in the Walkup Skydome. Along with the 17 fall semester graduates, NAU Athletics will graduate 61 total student-athletes this academic year.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Senior distance runner Futsum Zienasellassie and sophomore diver Tanya Kurach were among the big winners at Monday night's Fourth Annual Louie's Awards hosted by the Northern Arizona Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Zienasellassie and Kurach were named the Male and Female Athletes of the Year respectively at the end-of-year awards show at NAU's Prochnow Auditorium.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona football senior Patrick Baldenegro and women’s basketball senior Rene Coggins were honored as the Golden Eagle Scholar Athletes of the Year on Tuesday during the 39th annual Golden Eagle Awards luncheon. A total of 190 student-athletes across all 15 of NAU’s athletic programs were honored at the High Country Conference Center.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – A pair of standouts from Chandler's Hamilton High School and a versatile player from Southern California comprise the Northern Arizona volleyball team's incoming 2017 class. Saylor Frew (Corona, Calif.), Heaven Harris (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Kimber Kemp (Chandler, Ariz.) all made their commitments official during the fall signing period and will join the Lumberjacks as freshmen next fall.

    GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The Northern Arizona volleyball team was determined to become the first back-to-back conference tournament champion in four years, but North Dakota made sure their home crowd of 1,512 saw otherwise. Although the Fighting Hawks ultimately denied the Lumberjacks of a second straight NCAA Tournament appearance in straight sets, Saturday's championship match was anything but a walk in the park for the home team.

    GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Senior Lauren Jacobsen was not about to let the Northern Arizona volleyball team head to a fifth set, and with three final emphatic kills she propelled the Lumberjacks to their second straight Big Sky Tournament finale. No. 3 NAU overcame a first set loss and knocked off No. 2 Sacramento State in Friday's semifinal, 20-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-23, and improved to 24-7 overall this season.

    GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Deserving of the honors, seniors Jensen Barton and Lauren Jacobsen, redshirt sophomore Brittni Dorsey and freshman Abby Akin were recognized by the league's head coaches on Wednesday with spots on the All-Big Sky teams. Barton and Jacobsen were voted to the First Team, while Dorsey and Akin were selected to the Second Team. Akin was also named the conference's Outstanding Freshman. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The Northern Arizona volleyball team's ultimate conference title defense will start Thursday versus Portland State in the opening round of the Big Sky Championships hosted by North Dakota. NAU, the No. 3 seed, and Portland State, the No. 6 seed, will meet in the Betty Englestad Center at 1 p.m. Arizona time.
  • NAU Student-Athletes Continue to Graduate at a High Rate

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Northern Arizona University’s NCAA Graduation Success Rate of 84 leads the Big Sky Conference, according to a national report released Tuesday. The NCAA developed the GSR for Division I institutions in 2002 in response to college and university presidents who wanted more accurate graduation data. NAU’s rate is the second-highest in the state of Arizona amongst the Regent institutions.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Two days after seeing their school record home win streak come to a halt, the Northern Arizona volleyball team started a new one on Saturday and ensured their seniors would leave the Rolle Activity Center as victors in a 25-22, 25-21, 25-21, sweep over Southern Utah. With the victory, the Lumberjacks earned the No. 3 seed in next week's conference tournament and concluded the regular season with a 12-4 conference record.

As the Lumberjacks' three seniors – Jensen Barton, Lauren Jacobsen and Addy Lofstedt – take the Rolle Activity Center court for the final time on Saturday, it will mark the end of an exceptional run at home under head coach Ken Murphy – who like his seniors is nearing the end of his fourth season in Flagstaff.

The loss snapped NAU's 25-match home win streak and also marked the first time that the 'Jacks dropped consecutive matches since Sept. 19-20, 2014.

    POCATELLO, Idaho – Senior Jensen Barton tallied her third triple-double of the season, but the Northern Arizona volleyball team was edged by Idaho State in five sets Saturday night, 17-25, 26-24, 11-25, 25-13, 18-16. The Bengals denied the Lumberjacks on three match points, and handed them their third conference loss. NAU is now 21-6 and 11-3 in the Big Sky heading into the final week of the regular season.

    OGDEN, Utah – If senior Lauren Jacobsen's milestone night was the headline of the night, the Northern Arizona volleyball team's balanced attack was not far behind on Thursday's storylines. Jacobsen joined the 1,000 kill/1,000 dig club in NAU's 27-25, 25-20, 25-15 straight set victory over Weber State, and was one of six Lumberjacks to total at least five kills in the sweep.

The Lumberjacks' five-match win streak came to an end on the first leg of a four-match road trip, and saw them fall to 9-2 in conference play and 19-5 overall.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The road to the Big Sky Tournament starts this week with the Northern Arizona volleyball team traveling to Sacramento State and Portland State in the first half of four consecutive road matches. The Lumberjacks, the only team to clinch a spot in the tournament to date, defeated both the Hornets and Vikings on their home court two weeks ago. NAU takes on Sacramento State on Thursday at 7 p.m. and then will play Portland State on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona volleyball team successfully defended their home court to complete a perfect 4-0 homestand – and tie Minnesota for the longest active home win streak in the country at 25 matches – with a 25-22, 25-14, 25-19 straight set victory over Montana on Saturday. The 'Jacks (19-4, 9-1 Big Sky) were led by their outside hitting duo of senior Lauren Jacobsen and redshirt sophomore Kaylie Jorgenson, who sliced and diced the Grizzlies, in claiming their fifth straight win overall.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Thursday's 3-0 match score was not indicative of the play on the Rolle Activity Center court. Through 23 ties, the Northern Arizona volleyball team took blow after blow from Montana State before squeezing out a 29-27, 25-21, 25-20 sweep which extended its home winning streak to 24 matches. Despite mustering up only a .172 hitting percentage against a scrappy Bobcat squad, the 'Jacks won their fourth consecutive match overall to improve to 18-4 and 8-1 in conference play.

The Lumberjacks will host the Bobcats on Thursday at 7 p.m., with their tilt against the Grizzlies on Saturday at 12 p.m. before the two schools battle it out in the Walkup Skydome for a crucial Big Sky football matchup later in the day.
