FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Coming off a significant victory against Southern Illinois to end their weekend at the Saluki Invitational, the Northern Arizona volleyball team continues their road trip on Monday with the UT Martin Labor Day Tri-Match. NAU, sitting with a 3-2 record, caps its five-match trip with UT Martin at 9 a.m. and Alabama A&M at 1 p.m. before finally opening up its home schedule this upcoming weekend versus Bethune-Cookman.

Ken Murphy's Sound Bite: "We showed tremendous growth this past weekend. We didn't play the match we wanted to (against Central Florida), but this group is so intent on learning lessons from all of their experiences. We used that match as a way to tell ourselves we could play better and with more intensity and focus. To see them flip that around in (the Southern Illinois match), it sets the bar a little higher for us going forward."

Previewing The 'Jacks: NAU went into the Saluki Invitational this past weekend and came away with a 2-1 record against a challenging field consisting of Western Michigan, Central Florida and host Southern Illinois. The Lumberjacks improved to 3-2 this season after defeating Western Michigan and Southern Illinois in four sets. NAU's loss to Central Florida came in four sets. Seniors Lauren Jacobsen and Jensen Barton both earned spots on the Saluki Invitational All-Tournament team. Jacobsen averaged 5.92 kills and 4.33 digs per set during the tournament while hitting .339. Barton averaged 10.83 assists, 2.75 digs, 1.92 kills and 0.83 blocks per set in addition to a .475 hitting percentage. Sophomore Jordan Anderson and freshman Abby Akin were also among the individual standouts, turning in impressive defensive performances. Anderson averaged 4.42 digs per set and recorded a career-high 24 digs in the win against Western Michigan. Akin tallied 21 blocks in three matches, including 11 versus Central Florida, and averaged 1.75 blocks per set.

The UT Martin Scout: UT Martin is 2-5 this season after collecting one win in four matches at the Little Rock Invitational this past weekend. The Skyhawks swept Arkansas-Pine Bluff and suffered losses to Mississippi State, Oklahoma and Little Rock. Madison Wessling leads the team with 3.04 kills per set and 70 kills on the season. She is also second on the team with 2.39 digs per set. Macy Reigelsperger, who was named to the all-tournament team last weekend, is averaging 2.35 kills per set and is the Skyhawks' leader in aces with 11.

The Alabama A&M Scout: Alabama A&M has endured a slow start to the season with a 1-6 record after dropping all three of its matches at the Louisiana Lafayette Tournament this past weekend to Nicholls State, Louisiana Lafayette and Air Force. Ashundria McNeal has led the Lady Bulldogs in nearly every statistical category with averages of 3.62 kills, 1.38 digs and 0.75 blocks per set.
