Volleyball Releases 2011 Fall Schedule

2011 VOLLEYBALL SCHEDULE

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona volleyball finalized its 25-match schedule for the 2011 season, highlighted by a number of talented non-conference and Big Sky Conference opponents. The Lumberjack volleyball season begins on Friday, Aug. 26 against Cal State Bakersfield in Orem, Utah.

"We are looking forward to this upcoming season and seeing how our players will respond," said head coach Craig Choate. "This was a young roster for the past couple years but now the majority of our lineup are upperclassmen so the expectations are high."

The women travel to Orem, Utah for the Wolverine Invitational in late August for a three-match slate against Cal State Bakersfield, Illinois State and host Utah Valley.

The Lumberjacks follow up with their annual Fiesta Bowl Tournament hosting San Jose State, Hampton, and New Mexico. NAU closes non-conference play in Colorado Springs, Colo., at the Air Force Invitational playing South Carolina Upstate, Utah Valley, and host Air Force.

After the three early-year tournaments, NAU starts its 16-match Big Sky Conference regular season schedule at home against Montana State on Thursday, Sep. 15 at the Rolle Activity Center.

"We had a good spring and just want to continue to improve and grow as a team," Choate said. "We have some talented freshmen coming in to help our returners so we are hoping for a successful year."

Admission will be free for all home NAU volleyball matches this season.
