Lumberjacks Fall to Pacific in Second Match at Wolfpack Invitational
RENO, Nev. – Sophomore outside hitter Jen Wilson turned in her best performance of the season and tied a career-high with 16 kills and a .538 hitting percentage in Northern Arizona's 3-0 defeat against Pacific at the Virginia Street Gym on Friday night. The Lumberjacks fell by sets of 25-18, 25-18, and 25-23.
Wilson posted a match-high in hitting percentage finishing 16-of-26 attacks with only two errors on the night. Her 16 kills were a team-high as Pacific's Svenja Engelhardt turned in a match-high 17.
NAU (4-5) finished the night hitting .070 for the match compared to a .257 hitting percentage from Pacific (6-1). The Lumberjacks posted their best numbers in the third set hitting .300 as a team and nearly pushed the match to a fourth set.
With the loss, NAU slipped to 0-2 at the Nevada Wolfpack Invitational. The Lumberjacks close the tournament on Saturday, September 11 at noon against No. 24 Arizona.
The Lumberjacks slipped to 2-3 in 3-0 matches this year. NAU defeated Rider and Maryland Eastern Shore 3-0, and fell to Central Arkansas, Wyoming, and Pacific, 3-0.
Friday's matchup was the first-ever meeting between NAU and Pacific.
