Freshman Anna Gott Wins AAU Junior Beach Volleyball National Championship
HERMOSA BEACH, Calif. –
Incoming volleyball freshman Anna Gott (Phoenix, Ariz./Desert
Vista), an accomplished beach player, added a big win to her resume
on July 19 when she teamed with partner Betsi Metter to win the 18
and under girls AAU Junior Beach Volleyball National
Championship.
Gott and Metter, both from Arizona, defeated Emma White and Meg
Norton of California by scores of 21-15 and 21-16 to take the title
at the 16th annual event in Hermosa Beach. The pair did not drop a
match in the entire tournament, and were the first from Arizona to
ever win the event.
The win comes just two months after the duo took first place at
the Arizona Junior Beach Tournament in May.
Along with numerous wins in beach volleyball, Gott was a two-time
first team all-region selection while playing at setter for Desert
Vista High School, as well as an Arizona Republic honorable mention
All-Arizona selection.
