FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - More than 150 student-athletes served as hosts to 140 students from Kinsey and South Beaver elementary schools during National Student Athlete for a Day on Wednesday, April 21 at Northern Arizona University. The students attended university classes throughout the morning and toured campus facilities with Lumberjack student-athletes.

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – Spring break is a time that every college athlete looks forward to for their escape from tough classes and workouts. This year the vacation spot was Palm Springs, California. A group of us volleyball girls decided to rent out a place in the area where we could lounge and feel the warmth of the sun for a few days.

Outstanding Student-Athletes Honored with Golden Eagle Awards
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Golden Eagle Distributors, Inc., honored 167 Northern Arizona University student-athletes for their scholastic and athletic accomplishments at the 32nd annual Golden Eagle Awards on Thursday. The Golden Eagle Awards recognize NAU student-athletes who have made significant contributions to the Lumberjack athletics program while maintaining a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average.

Volleyball Announces Spring Schedule
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The women’s volleyball team will begin its preparation for the 2010 fall season with four scheduled play dates over the next month. The 2010 Lumberjacks lose just one senior and will return eight players who appeared in at least 20 of the 25 matches played in 2009.

OGDEN, Utah – The Northern Arizona women’s volleyball team landed seven student-athletes on the Big Sky Conference’s All-Academic team. The Lumberjacks finished tied for third with Portland State with the most selections in the conference.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona University athletics department will host a toy drive this week at its two basketball games on campus. Fans who bring a new unwrapped toy will receive FREE general admission. All donations will go to the Salvation Army.

Volleyball’s Dallmann Named Outstanding Freshman
OGDEN, Utah – Northern Arizona volleyball’s Kelli Dallmann received the Outstanding Freshman Award, the Big Sky Conference announced on Thursday. The awards were decided following a vote by the league’s nine head coaches and were announced from the site of the championship on Nov. 26.

Volleyball to Close Season at Northern Colorado
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona volleyball will play its final match of the 2009 season on Saturday at Northern Colorado on Saturday, November 21 at 7 p.m. The Lumberjacks were eliminated from Big Sky Championship contention last weekend with losses to Portland State (3-0) and Eastern Washington (3-0).

Volleyball Signs One, Small to Join Lumberjack Roster in 2010
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona volleyball announced Niki Small has signed a National Letter of Intent and will play for the 2010 NAU Lumberjacks next fall. Small, from Ashland, Ore., is a 6-1 middle blocker averaging 4.2 kills-per-set with a .570 kill percentage as a senior at Ashland High School.

CHENEY, Wash. – Northern Arizona volleyball lost its third-straight match with a 3-0 defeat at Eastern Washington on Saturday night at Reese Court. The Lumberjacks postseason chances ended with the loss and Montana’s win over Sacramento State.

Volleyball Swept by Portland State, Dallmann Puts Up Double-Double
PORTLAND, Ore. – Freshman Kelli Dallmann recorded her ninth double-double of the season in a 3-0 loss to the Big Sky Conference’s first-place team Portland State on Friday at the Stott Center. Dallmann totaled 17 assists and 12 kills as the Lumberjacks fell by scores of 25-22, 25-17, and 25-23.

Volleyball to Take on Two of the Conference's Top Performers in Portland State and Eastern Washington
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona volleyball will play matches this weekend at first-place Portland State and third-place Eastern Washington on Friday, November 13 and Saturday, November 14, respectively. Both matches are scheduled for 8 p.m. starts. The Lumberjacks fell to Portland State 3-0 and defeated Eastern Washington 3-2 at home earlier this year.

Volleyball Falls to Montana 3-0, Mays-Robinson Recognized on Senior Night
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Senior setter Jana Mays-Robinson played in her final home match at the Rolle Activity Center on Saturday night recording 11 assists and seven digs in Northern Arizona volleyball’s 3-0 loss to Montana. The Lumberjacks, positioned in sixth place in the Big Sky Conference standings, could have gained a full game on the fourth-place Grizzlies, but were defeated in straight sets by scores of 25-14, 25-18, and 25-23.

POCATELLO, Idaho – Northern Arizona volleyball took a step back on Saturday with a 3-1 loss to Idaho State. The Lumberjacks were down 2-0, rallied to win the third set, but ultimately fell in the fourth and final frame. NAU lost the match by scores of 25-20, 25-19, 20-25, and 25-16.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona volleyball pulled out a 3-2 win over Eastern Washington on Thursday night at the Rolle Activity Center. The Lumberjacks defeated the Big Sky Conference’s first place team after opening a two-set lead, dropping the next two, and then finishing the Eagles off in the fifth and final set. Volleyball Pushes Sacramento State Throughout in Four-Set Defeat
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Freshman Jen Wilson posted a breakout performance with 14 kills and a .464 hitting percentage as the Lumberjacks nearly pulled out a 3-1 victory at Sacramento State on Thursday night. The Lumberjacks held a 21-16 lead in the fourth set, but Sacramento State rallied in the late stages to preserve the win.

Former Big Sky Championship Volleyball Team Enters Hall of Fame on 10th Anniversary
November 20, 1999. Northern Arizona volleyball captures its first and only Big Sky Championship sending the Lumberjacks to the Women’s Division I NCAA Championships in College Station, Texas. A decade later, the 1999 NAU volleyball team remains the most successful in program history and will become the 13th team to be inducted into the NAU Athletics Hall of Fame.

Lauren Campbell and Kobi Christensen combined for 22 kills to lead NAU to its third win on the season. In Saturday’s second match, the Lumberjacks fell 3-1 to tournament champion Utah State.

BOISE, Idaho – Freshman outside hitter Lauren Campbell posted her second straight double-double, but Northern Arizona women’s volleyball suffered its first loss of the season in a narrow five-set match against Cal State Northridge on Saturday at the Boise State Bronco Classic. The Lumberjacks fell by sets of 25-23, 11-25, 26-24, 14-25, 12-15.

BOISE, Idaho – Northern Arizona women’s volleyball picked up its first victory of the 2009 season with a 3-1 victory over Boise State on Friday on day one of competition at the Boise State Bronco Invitational. NAU (1-0) won its fourth-consecutive season opener by sets of 18-25, 28-26, 25-21, and 25-22.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona women’s volleyball opens the 2009 season this weekend in Boise, Idaho at the Boise State Bronco Invitational with three scheduled matches. The Lumberjacks will play on Friday, Aug. 28 at 6 p.m. and twice on Saturday, Aug. 29 with matches against Cal State Northridge at 9 a.m. and Tulsa at 4 p.m.

Portland State Volleyball Picked to Win the Big Sky Conference in 2009
OGDEN, Utah - Portland State has been chosen to win the 2009 Big Sky Conference title according to a vote by the league’s head coaches. The poll was released on Tuesday by the league and coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams. NAU was picked to finish seventh of the nine teams in the conference.

2009 Athletics Hall of Fame Recipients Announced
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Former football standout Alvin Rex and the most successful volleyball team in school history will be inducted into the Northern Arizona University Athletics Hall of Fame, Athletics Director Jim Fallis announced. Dr. L. Stephen Rice will receive the Athletics Contributor Award.

LEXINGTON, Ken. - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced that 409 teams earned the AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2008-09 season, and NAU was one of 71 Division I teams to earn the honor.

Freshman Anna Gott Wins AAU Junior Beach Volleyball National Championship
HERMOSA BEACH, Calif. – Incoming freshman Anna Gott (Phoenix, Ariz./Desert Vista), an accomplished beach player, added a big win to her resume on July 19 when she teamed with Betsi Metter to win the 18 and under girls AAU Junior Beach Volleyball National Championship.
