FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — It has been nearly 10 days since the Northern Arizona University Women's Tennis team took the court. The Lumberjacks are on a seven-match winning streak and currently undefeated in conference. The 'Jacks are back on the road Tuesday, March 14 against New Mexico after a four-match run at home.
Both NAU's men's and women's teams will compete against New Mexico Tuesday in their first tandem road trip. Director of Tennis Ki Kroll hopes the teams will encourage each other this week and give an extra boost to their energy on the road.
Going into the match, the Lumberjacks are 7-2, currently holding the longest winning streak in the Big Sky Conference and the only team who is undefeated at home. Northern Arizona is 18-4 in doubles overall and 35-16 in singles overall. The Lumberjacks are set to start the match at 3 p.m. at New Mexico after the NAU Men's Tennis finishes their 11 a.m. match.
- The Lumberjacks finished 2016 as regular season champions with an 18-8 overall record and 10-1 in Big Sky Conference play.

- On Feb. 22 Blanka Szavay was the first Lumberjack on the NAU Women's Tennis team named Big Sky Player of the Week in the 2017 season.

The Lobos are 1-10 overall with their lone 5-2 win over Wisconsin early February. New Mexico is on a five-match losing streak and coming off a close 3-4 loss to Minnesota Sunday March 12. The Lobos are hoping to secure a few wins before starting conference against Utah State April 7.
A member of the Mountain West, New Mexico is led by head coach Stephanie Wooten-Quijada. The last time the Lobos went up against the Lumberjacks they won 4-0 in the beginning of the 2016 season. This season, the eight-person Lobos squad returns all but two. This will be the Lobos only match of the weekend.
Northern Arizona will face Northern Colorado and non-conference opponent Wyoming this weekend on March 17 and March 18, respectively. The Lumberjacks will remain on the road for both of those matches. To start the weekend, the 'Jacks compete against the Bears Friday at 11 a.m. before taking on the Cowboys Saturday at 9 a.m.
Northern Arizona competed in five fall tournaments at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, University of Arizona, ITA Mountain Regionals in Albuquerque, N.M., Arizona State University and Grand Canyon University. All seven Lumberjacks played this fall, with standout seniors Lewandowska and Hailey Rochin and freshman Tomasetti who had incredible preseasons. To start the fall, senior Szavay paired with sophomore Lodewijks for a doubles win in their first match at the UNLV Invitational. Lewandowska came up with two singles wins and finished 2-1 in doubles with freshman Brandy Walker. Walker picked up a third-place finish in singles for the first time as a Lumberjack in that tournament. At Arizona, the Lumberjacks posted a 9-7 singles record and a notable 7-1 doubles record, including two singles wins for Lewandowska, Tomasetti and sophomore Granville. The Lumberjacks finished strong with Tomasetti qualifying for the Round 16 in singles at the ITA Mountain Regionals.
