OGDEN, Utah – The Northern Arizona women's tennis team went 2-1 on the road this past weekend with two wins against conference opponents, Weber State and Idaho State. Hailey Rochin was a key contributor as she went unbeaten in singles play this weekend and helped NAU clinch a spot in this year's Big Sky Championships and as a result, Rochin has been named this week's Big Sky Player of the Week.
Rochin started the week off with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Weber State's Michelle Warwick that helped give NAU the 4-1 win. She carried that momentum into Sunday's match against Idaho State, where she went 2-0 in NAU's 4-0 win over the Bengals.
Rochin won her singles match against Madelyn Weltzin 6-4, 6-4 to clinch the point for NAU. In her doubles match along with Emelia Box, the duo took down Idaho State's Marian Tangarife and Laura Theus for the 8-5 win.
Despite the 4-1 loss to Utah State to close out the weekend, Rochin was responsible for the Lumberjacks' lone point as she took down Katie Sweet in singles, 6-4, 6-4.
Rochin and the Lumberjacks will return home to play Sacramento State on April 13.
