ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Northern Arizona women's tennis team wrapped up its fall schedule at the University of New Mexico Lobo Invite in Albuquerque this past weekend where the Lumberjacks picked up six wins over the weekend.
Sophomore Jordan Denesik was able to finish in third place in her flight going 2-1 in singles play defeating Susan Baklini and Madison Porter both from New Mexico. Denesik defeated Baklini in the first round 6-4, 7-5 and after suffering a loss in the semifinals, Denesik recovered with a third place finish over Porter 6-0, 6-4.
Denesik and junior Sarah Spruch teamed up in doubles play and were able to pick up a win on Saturday against a tough UTEP tandem in Matilda Rose Tench and Anastasiya Sylenko by a score of 8-6.
Freshman Olivia Headford went 2-1 during the weekend defeating two UTEP players in Anastasiya Sylenko 6-0, 6-3 and Jamie-Leigh Michau 8-2.
Head Coach Kim Bruno has done a great job of incorporating the newcomers along with the returning players during the fall season
This was the final tournament for the Lumberjacks this fall as they now turn their attention and focus towards spring. They will begin play on Jan. 18 at Arizona State.
