Women's Tennis Places Top Four on All-Big Sky Teams
OGDEN, Utah – The top four players in the Northern Arizona women's tennis lineup were selected to the All-Big Sky teams by the conference coaches on Thursday. Junior Ghizelene Doballah and freshman Hannah Stone were voted to the first team and junior Malia Wahinepio and freshman Johanna Vang were named honorable mention selections. It is the sixth consecutive year which the Lumberjacks placed at least four players on the All-Conference teams.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Northern Arizona women's team could not use the momentum gained from taking the doubles point to reach their seventh straight Big Sky Championship final, falling to Montana, 4-2, in Saturday's semifinal at the Gold River Racquet Club. Montana, the third-seed, will play the top-seeded host and 10-time defending Big Sky champions Sacramento State on Sunday for a berth in the NCAA Tennis Championships.

VANCOUVER, Wash. – The Northern Arizona women's tennis team completed the sweep of Portland State, defeating the Vikings, 6-1, following the men's victory over the host school earlier Saturday. The Lumberjacks clinched the second seed in next weekend's Big Sky Championship, finishing the conference season with a 7-1 record and is now 9-12 this spring heading into their regular season finale on Sunday.

Tennis Bound for Portland State, Seattle to Conclude Regular Season
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona tennis teams will both conclude their regular seasons this weekend with road matches at Portland State and Seattle on Saturday and Sunday respectively. The two matches will wrap up a grueling spring for the Lumberjack tennis squads who combined to play just nine home matches in 40 total matches thus far between the two teams. The two teams have also combined to play 10 nationally-ranked opponents in the ITA top-75 rankings.

CHENEY, Wash. – The Northern Arizona women's tennis team clinched a spot in the Big Sky Championship tournament with its 5-1 victory over Eastern Washington on Sunday to improve its conference record to 6-1 this season. The Lumberjacks secured the victory by taking five of the six singles matches and snapped their three-match losing streak in the process in pushing their overall record to 8-12.

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Northern Arizona women's tennis team dropped its second match of the weekend, 4-3, to Gonzaga on Saturday at the Spokane Racquet Club despite holding a 2-1 advantage in the match. The Bulldogs rallied for three singles wins at that point to reach the four-point threshold needed to secure the victory, sending the Lumberjacks to their third consecutive defeat while falling to 7-12 this season.

PULLMAN, Wash. – The Northern Arizona women's team began its three-match road swing in Washington on Friday by taking on No. 30 Washington State, but fell to the Cougars, 7-0, in the Hollingbery Fieldhouse. The loss dropped the Lumberjacks' record to 7-11 this spring, but seven of those losses have come against top-75 competition in the ITA rankings.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women's tennis rode five singles wins to their second consecutive conference victory and second win of the weekend on Saturday, defeating Montana State, 5-1, at Continental Country Club. The win secured an NAU split with the Bobcats in the two schools' tennis doubleheader after the men's team fell earlier in the day. The Lumberjacks are now 5-1 in the conference and 7-9 overall after their third win in their last four matches.

It was the third straight meeting which the Lumberjacks defeated the Grizzlies by a single team point, and NAU improved to 6-9 this season and more importantly 4-1 in the Big Sky with the victory.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Playing its first home match of the season, the Northern Arizona women's tennis team could not defeat their longtime nemesis, No. 71 Sacramento State, despite close play throughout the match. The two teams came into the match tied atop the Big Sky standings with a 3-0 conference record, but the Lumberjacks were unable to get their first win over the 10-time defending conference champions since 2001, falling 6-1 to the Hornets on Sunday.

Women's Tennis Makes Idaho State Second Straight 7-0 Victim
POCATELLO, Idaho – Faced with a quick turnaround and its third match in three days in three different states, the Northern Arizona women's tennis team made it a winning weekend with its 7-0 victory over Idaho State on Sunday. The Lumberjacks won their third Big Sky match of the season and recorded their second straight 7-0 decision after doing so against Weber State yesterday.

This weekend will be the first of four sets of three matches in as many days this season for the Lumberjacks.

TEMPE, Ariz. – Freshmen Hannah Stone and Johanna Vang teamed for a doubles victory in their collegiate debuts, but No. 59 UC Davis claimed the doubles point by winning the two remaining doubles matches en route to a 7-0 victory over the Northern Arizona women's tennis team on Friday at the Whiteman Tennis Center. Stone and Vang's 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles was the Lumberjacks' only victory of the day in the season opener for both teams.

The Lumberjacks are coming off a 13-10 season in 2011, where they lost to the Hornets for the sixth-consecutive year in the Big Sky Conference final.

Sacramento State was chosen first on both the men’s and women’s sides atop the polls. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.

Hannah Stone Excelling Despite Losing Friend, Teammate
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – It was the morning of August 24, 2011 and two of the Northern Arizona women's tennis team's newest recruits, one from California and one from Florida, were texting each other in anticipation of finally starting their Lumberjack tennis careers together. Two recruits from opposite ends of the country would finally be able to see each other for the first time after striking up a friendship on their recruiting trips to the Mountain campus in February. And then everything changed.

IRVINE, Calif. – Due to rain, the Northern Arizona women's tennis team was unable to hit the court at the UC Irvine Fall Invitational on Sunday for the second day this weekend. The inclement weather only allowed the Lumberjacks to compete on Saturday at the three-day weekend tournament, but they found unquestioned success, going undefeated in eight total matches on their only day of competition.

TEMPE, Ariz. – Freshman Hannah Stone and junior Nicole Perez split their respective singles matches for the second straight day at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational on Saturday with the victim in both victories being Ohio State's Kelsey Becker. After Perez defeated Becker on Friday, Stone handed Becker her second loss in as many days, 6-2, 6-2, at the Whiteman Tennis Center.

Freshman Hannah Stone, who was the lone Lumberjack to advance to the third round of the singles main draw after Wednesday's play, fell to New Mexico's Michaela Bezdickova, the fifth-seeded player in the draw, 6-0, 6-0 in Thursday's third round.
