Women’s Tennis Ends Season Ranked Ninth in ITA Mountain Region

SKILLMAN, N.J. – The Northern Arizona women's tennis team has earned a No. 9 ranking in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Women's Division-I Mountain Region rankings. The Lumberjacks went 7-2 during the 2011 season against teams from the Mountain Region. Additionally, senior Edit Suhajda finished No. 19 in the regional singles rankings and teamed with senior Orsi Golovics to be ranked as the No. 8 doubles team in the region.

Northern Arizona is the only Big Sky team to be ranked in the Mountain Region, though Montana also earned a doubles ranking and Sacramento State is ranked in the Northwest Region. Suhajda was ranked No. 20 in the preseason ITA Mountain Region singles rankings, while team rankings were only released at the end of the spring season.

Suhajda was second in the Big Sky with nine victories at No. 1 singles and teamed with Golovics for a superb 13-5 record at No. 1 doubles. The duo became just the third and fourth student-athletes in program history to earn three or more All-Big Sky first team honors, with Suhajda becoming just the second player in program history to be a four time first team selection.
