Women’s Tennis Ends Play at ITA Regional with Doubles Win
LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Junior Orsi Golovics and freshman Malia
Wahinepio won their final doubles match to conclude action for
Northern Arizona at the Wilson/ITA Division-I Women’s
Mountain Regional in Las Vegas.
The pair of Lumberjacks faced UNLV’s Adrienne Hidvegi and
Nives Pavlovic in a final doubles consolation match on Saturday,
toping the home-standing Rebels duo by a score of 9-7. With the
victory, the pair combined to go 4-1 in the tournament.
Golovics also competed in a singles consolation match on Saturday,
but dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision to Sophia Bergner of Denver
University. She was the last Lumberjack to be eliminated from the
tournament’s singles consolation bracket.
The Lumberjacks will return to the court on November 6, when they
begin play at the Southwest Collegiate Invitational in Albuquerque,
N.M.
