Five Lumberjacks Named to All-Big Sky Womens Tennis Team
OGDEN, Utah Headlined by a third-straight All-Big Sky first team selection for junior Edit Suhajda, Northern Arizona placed five athletes on the 2010 Womens Big Sky All-Conference tennis team. Juniors Orsi Golovics and Yumi Hasegawa and freshman Malia Wahinepio were named to the second team while freshman Nicole Perez was honorable mention. The conference-best five selections tied a program record and were the most for the team since 2007.

Womens Tennis Downed by Sacramento State, 4-0, in Big Sky Final
SACRAMENTO, Calif. No. 51 Sacramento State cruised to the doubles point and won three singles matches in straight-sets to defeat Northern Arizona, 4-0, in the Big Sky championship final. The Hornets defeated NAU in the conference final for the fifth-straight season, winning their ninth-consecutive Big Sky championship and earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. Northern Arizona picked up a critical doubles point and won three singles matches to edge Montana, 4-2, in a Big Sky Championship semifinal match on Saturday morning at Gold River Racquet Club. The win sends Northern Arizona to its fifth-consecutive Big Sky Championship final on Sunday, where the Lumberjacks will again meet No. 51 Sacramento State after the Hornets blasted Montana State, 4-0, in the other semifinal.

Womens Tennis Falls to Sacramento State, 6-1; Finish 2nd in Big Sky
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. No. 54 Sacramento State claimed the doubles point and won five singles matches to claim the Big Sky regular season title and hand Northern Arizona its first conference loss of the season with a 6-1 victory. The Hornets finished the regular season at 17-6 and 8-0 in the Big Sky, securing the top seed for next weeks Big Sky Championship, while NAU ends the regular season in second in the Big Sky at 7-1 and 12-6 overall.

Suhajda Named Big Sky Womens Tennis Player of the Week

The award is the first of the season for Suhajda and the third of the year for Northern Arizona. Sacramento State junior Kiryl Harbatsiuk earned mens player of the week honors for the fourth time this season.

PORTLAND, Ore. Northern Arizona won a pair of doubles matches and swept singles to remain undefeated in the Big Sky with a 7-0 victory over Portland State on Monday morning. POCATELLO, Idaho Northern Arizona swept doubles and picked up four singles wins to notch their fifth consecutive victory and ninth win in 10 matches in a 5-2 victory over Idaho State on Sunday in Pocatello. NAU remained undefeated in the Big Sky at 5-0 and moved to 10-3 overall with Idaho State remaining winless in conference at 0-6 and 1-11 overall.

Tennis Teams Volunteering Time to Help Youth Development
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. Over the past month, all of the members of the Northern Arizona mens and womens tennis teams have spent time assisting youth players in the Flagstaff Junior Tennis Academy (FJTA). Held at the Lumberjacks home courts at Flagstaff Athletic Club East, team members have spent time with both the advanced and beginner/intermediate boys and girls groups to aid in their development and demonstrate a high-level of tennis to which the youth can aspire.

Playing their first match in 19 days, the Lumberjacks won their third-straight match and improved to a Big Sky-best 8-3 overall while the visiting Rams dropped to 1-4.
