DENVER, Colo. – For the second consecutive week and the fifth time this season NAU senior Kristy Ardavanis has been named WAC Diver of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Ardavanis won the 1-meter competition in a field of 47 of the best divers in the west at the Air Force Diving Invitational last Friday. She opened on 1-meter with a seventh-place prelim score of 265.15 to be included in the field of eight that advanced to the final, where she posted the highest score of any diver in either round, totaling 299.50 to win by nearly 22 points ahead of divers from UCLA, Utah, UNLV, and others.
In the 3-meter competition at the event, Ardavanis totaled the 2nd highest prelim score on the board with a 298.65 total and she would go on to score 290.35 to place fourth in the final, again finishing ahead of UCLA divers. Ardavanis also dove on platform and was the third highest NAU scorer, totaling 168.05 to place 25th overall.
The Gilbert, Ariz. native has the top 1-meter and 3-meter scores in the WAC this season and has now been named as the conference's diver of the week 10 times over the last two seasons. Ardavanis and the Lumberjacks will close their regular season on Saturday in a dual at Arizona State.
