FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – For the fourth time this season and the ninth time over the last two years NAU senior diver Kristy Ardavanis, who broke two pool records in her final home meet on Saturday, has been named the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Diver of the Week.
Ardavanis broke the Wall Aquatic Center records on both 1-meter and 3-meter while winning both events in her final competition in her home pool. Ardavanis opened with a career-high score of 329.93 on 3-meter to break the pool record of 327.83 set by former Lumberjack Taryn Harris in 2008. The score was the second highest 3-meter total in program history as was Ardavanis' winning total of 325.65 on 1-meter which broke her own pool record set in 2011.
"I wanted to go out with a bang and it was cool that my family and friends were there to see it," Ardavanis said. "I definitely had a good feeling going into it and felt confident. I had good visualization and it all worked out."
The scores were also the highest in the Western Athletic Conference this season as Ardavanis won 3-meter by more than 20 points and 1-meter by more than 40 points. She won both boards for the third time in duals this season.
Ardavanis and her teammates will compete at the Air Force Diving Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
