Lents Leads Lumberjacks on Platform to Close NCAA Zone Diving Meet
U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – NAU freshman diver Kali Lents closed her first NCAA regional meet by leading the Lumberjacks with an 18th place finish on platform as NAU concluded its season on the final day of the NCAA Zone E Diving Regional at the Air Force Academy.
"Kali missed her last dive but otherwise dove great today," said NAU diving coach Nikki Huffman. "All four of our divers here had at least one good day this weekend and everyone fought really hard. Its tough to compete against the best divers in the west and I'm proud of the effort this weekend and all season."
Lents totaled 204.45 in the preliminary round to placed 18th overall, falling just 10.2 points short of reaching the final. NAU's two senior divers, Holly Frost and Cassie Anderson, closed their Lumberjack careers scoring 179.10 and 169.15, respectively, to place 25th and 27th. Junior Kristy Ardavanis, who posted NAU's best finishes on 1-meter and 3-meter at the meet, did not compete on platform.
The NCAA Zone diving meet concluded the 2011-12 NAU swimming & diving season and closed the collegiate careers for the two senior divers as well as swimming seniors Chalene Dirks-Ryan, Kristin Jones, and Krista Maier.
