DENVER, Colo. – Following another dominant performance in sweeping both diving events against No. 5 Arizona and New Mexico State last week, NAU junior Kristy Ardavanis has earned her fifth Verizon WAC Diver of the Week award of the season. She has now won five of the nine weekly awards issued by the conference this season.
A native of Gilbert, Ariz., Ardavanis won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions as NAU faced four schools in a multi meet in Tucson, with No. 5 Arizona and New Mexico State also competing on the diving boards. She won the 3-meter by 12.65 points with a season-best score of 326.75, defeating two divers from No. 5 Arizona and one from New Mexico State. She followed with a win in the 1-meter by 15.90 points with a score of 294.00, defeating three Wildcat divers and one from the Aggies.
She has swept the diving events in five of the seven meets this season in which she has competed on both boards, and has won the 1-meter in seven of the eight events she has competed in on that board. Ardavanis and the rest of the Lumberjack divers will compete once more before the WAC Championships, taking part in the Falcon Diving Invitational Jan 27-28 at Air Force.
