FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women's swimming and diving team will host its second intersquad meet of the year on Friday at 2 p.m. in the annual Blue vs. Gold meet. The 26 members of the 2011-12 squad will be split into two teams and compete in 10 swimming events and two diving events. After the swimmers began their season with the pentathlon two weeks ago, the divers will compete for the first time on Friday.
Sophomore Rachel Palmer will look to lead the Gold Team after winning the pentathlon on September 23, while junior Fi Connell, who took second in the pentathlon, will be among the 13 competitors on the Blue Team. Each of the eight divers on the Lumberjack roster will compete on 1-meter and 3-meter dives, with returning letter winners Cassie Anderson and Kristy Ardavanis on the Blue Team and Holly Frost leading the way for the Gold Team.
After five NAU swimming newcomers debuted in the pentathlon, freshman swimmer Alex Huff, freshman divers Katie Dallmann and Kali Lents, and junior transfer diver Gwen Smithberg will see their first NAU action on Friday. Admission is free to the all NAU swimming meets this season in Wall Aquatic Center.
