Swimming and Diving’s Christensen Earns Academic All-America Selection
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona diver Lana Christensen was named to the Academic All-America At-Large Team, awarded by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). She was a District 8 second team selection.
The senior from Casper, Wyo., finished her NAU career as one of the most decorated divers in program history excelling in both athletics and academics.
Christensen was a four-time Academic All-Western Athletic Conference (WAC) selection, four-time Golden Eagle Scholar-Athlete Award recipient, and earned the 2010-11 Beckman Scholarship in biological sciences last May prior to her senior year. The prestigious scholarship is awarded to a limited group of college students throughout the country.
As a diver, Christensen produced top performances over her four-year career during the regular season, WAC Championships, and NCAA Zone Regional Championships.
Christensen placed third on 3-meter springboard earning a bronze medal at the WAC Championships in February. She also posted a career-best 11th place finish at the Zone Regionals on 3-meter. For her career, she was a five-time All-WAC selection, two-time WAC Diver of the Week, and a multiple top 20 finisher at the Zone Championships.
The senior from Casper, Wyo., graduated this May in microbiology with a minor in chemistry.
