NAU Diving Posts Strong Results to Close Out UNLV Invite, WAC Championships Up Next

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Northern Arizona diving team finished up competition at the UNLV Diving Invitational on Saturday with all six divers placing inside the top-10 on 1-meter.  The women were joined in Las Vegas  in Buchanan Natatorium by Air Force, host UNLV, and Utah.

Senior Taryn Harris was the Lumberjacks' top finisher with a third place result scoring 269.90.  Harris was the only NAU diver to place in the top three on both boards after earning a second place position on 3-meter the day prior.

Junior Holly Frost turned in a fourth-place finish with a score of 258.10.  The Lumberjacks' remaining divers placed sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth to round out the day's event.

"Taryn, Holly, Megan (Collier), and Cassie (Anderson) dove well," said diving coach Nikki Huffman.  "Taryn was not as on as the day before.  Holly had a great day on one meter.  Lana (Christensen) had one big miss and the rest was very solid.  Kristy (Ardavanis) dove well, but did three new dives that we are still deciding on for the WAC Championships so the scores were not as high.

"All in all the weekend was very positive, but also gives us a couple areas we need to focus in on to get ready for WAC Champs."

The swimming and diving team trains for the next three weeks before the WAC Championship meet that runs from Feb. 23 to Feb. 26.
