Swimming & Diving Starts 2009-10 Season with 14th Annual Pentathlon
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The
Northern Arizona swimming and diving team enters the water for its
first competition of the 2009-10 season at the Wall Aquatic Center
for the 14th annual Pentathlon. The event will begin at 2 p.m.,
this Friday, September 25.
Senior Rachael Foe has won the inter-squad competition each of the
last three years in which the women compete as individuals on a
point system. Lumberjack swimmers will take part in all five events
and points are assigned based on the times earned in each event.
The events consist of the 200-meter
IM, 100-meter, butterfly, 100-meter backstroke, 100-meter
breaststroke, and 100-meter freestyle.
Friday’s meet will be the first of two exhibition
competitions with the Blue vs. Gold meet rounding out the preseason
on Friday, October 16. The 2009-10 swimming and diving season will
begin in Las Cruces, N.M., on Saturday, October 31 against New
Mexico State and Northern Colorado.
