Ardavanis Selected WAC Diver of the Week
DENVER, Colo. – Northern
Arizona freshman Kristy Ardavanis was named Verizon Wireless
Western Athletic Conference diver of the week, the league announced
on Tuesday. Ardavanis is the third NAU diver this year to receive
the league’s weekly honor.
Last Friday, Ardavanis helped the Lumberjacks outscore No. 2
Arizona in the diving competition with a third place finish on the
3-meter. The freshman from Gilbert, Ariz., finished third on the
3-meter with a score of 313.05
The following day, Ardavanis, recorded her first career victories
in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events against Idaho. She
finished with scores of 275.55 on the 1-meter and 310.43 on the
3-meter.
NAU swimming and diving went 1-2 last week in its dual competition
with a win against WAC opponent Idaho (173-127) and losses to No. 2
Arizona (216-83) and Oregon State (164.5-97.5).
Ardavanis joined Lumberjack junior divers Taryn Harris and Lana Christensen on the WAC's diver of the week list. NAU is the only WAC program to have three different divers honored by the conference.
Other divers nominated: Stacey Luke, Fresno State; Stephanie De Lima, Hawai‘i; and Amy Bogart, San Diego.
