Swimming and Diving Earns CSCAA Team Academic Award
EVANSTON, Ill. – Northern
Arizona swimming and diving has been recognized by the College
Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for its academic
excellence in the classroom. The women earned the Division I Team
Scholar All-American award for the fifth time under head coach Andy
Johns.
Swimming and diving totaled a 3.24 grade-point-average last fall
and hold a 3.25 cumulative GPA through the fall semester.
The women had four student-athletes post 4.0 GPA’s including
diver Lana Christensen and swimmers Claire Ferro, Rachael Foe and
Jessi Jones. Twenty of the 26 members of the swimming and diving
team were over a 3.0 GPA.
The Lumberjacks were one of 10 NAU varsity sports to post a GPA
over 3.0 and one of eight women’s teams to do so.
Founded in 1922, the CSCAA—the oldest organization of college coaches in America—is a professional organization of college swimming and diving coaches dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming at the collegiate level.
