NAU Swimming and Diving Sends Eight to Finals at WAC Championships on Friday
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – NAU swimming and diving placed eight swimmers into Friday night’s finals at the WAC Championships held in the Josh Davis Natatorium. In the preliminary swims this morning, three Lumberjacks advanced to the championship final and five swim in the consolation final.
Seniors Kimber Morelli and Rachael Foe, and freshman Fi Connell each advanced to the championship finals and will swim for a WAC individual title beginning at 5:30 p.m. (MST).
Morelli swam a lifetime best in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:28.06 and finished with the fifth fastest time. Foe moved on in the 100-yard butterfly and posted the fifth fastest time at 56.42. Connell will participate in her second championship final in the past two days finishing third in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 55.90.
Five other Lumberjacks qualified for the consolation finals and will look to score points for a NAU team positioned in fifth place after two days at the WAC Championships.
