Swimming and Diving to be Recognized with Lumberjack Spirit & Pride Award
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The
Northern Arizona swimming and diving team will be presented with
the first-ever Lumberjack Spirit & Pride Award during halftime
of the men’s basketball game on Saturday. This year,
the NAU swimming and diving team is the recipient of the award for
attending the most games and events and showing their NAU spirit
and pride.
“It is nice to have our team recognized for its involvement
and interest in other teams on campus,” said head swimming
and diving coach Andy Johns. “They like going to events and
have a lot of fun.
“Our girls have friends on other teams and they enjoy
athletics. It is something for them to do together and support NAU
athletes in a fun way. I like seeing them out there having
fun.”
The women will be honored at halftime of Saturday’s
men’s basketball game against Eastern Washington which starts
at 6:35 p.m. in the Walkup Skydome.
The Lumberjack Spirit & Pride Award will be presented on a
yearly basis to the NAU team that shows the most support for their
fellow student-athletes by attending other NAU athletic events
while cheering the Lumberjacks on to victory.
