NAU Soccer Faces Weber State and Idaho State
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women’s soccer team will look to have a bounce back weekend on the road as they face Weber State and Idaho State. The Lumberjacks will start its road trip in Ogden, Utah to face the defending Big Sky Champions in the Wildcats on Friday, Oct. 24, and then will close out the weekend on Sunday, Oct. 26, in Pocatello, Idaho for a matchup against the Bengals.

NAU Drops 1-0 Match to Eastern Washington
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women’s soccer team closed out the weekend at home against Eastern Washington. The Eagles scored in the first half and Eastern Washington was able to shut out the Lumberjacks for the 1-0 win. NAU is now 7-5-3 on the season and 3-2-2 in the Big Sky.

NAU & Montana Draw 0-0 in Flagstaff
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women’s soccer team welcomed the University of Montana to town Friday night as the Grizzlies came in ranked first in the Big Sky Conference and undefeated in conference play. For the second straight game the Lumberjacks played in overtime for and Northern Arizona recorded its third straight shutout as NAU tied Montana 0-0 after 110 minutes of play. NAU is now 7-4-3 on the season and 3-1-2 in Big Sky Play.

NAU Soccer Hosts Montana and Eastern Washington
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – After having a seven-game unbeaten streaked snapped, the Northern Arizona women’s soccer team started a new winning streak last week with wins on the road over North Dakota and Northern Colorado. The Lumberjacks will look to carry that momentum into their toughest home stand of the season against Montana and Eastern Washington.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – After a weekend of two goals and an assist in two wins over North Dakota and Northern Colorado, Northern Arizona soccer’s junior Haley Wingender has been named the Big Sky’s Offensive Player of the Week.

NAU’s Wingender Scores in Double Overtime for 1-0 Win
GREELEY, Colo. – For 109 minutes and 30 seconds the Northern Arizona women’s soccer team and Northern Colorado were scoreless with both teams looking at a 0-0 draw. However, the Lumberjacks refused to give up and with 30 seconds left on the clock, Haley Wingender scored the game-winning goal to give NAU the 1-0 victory over Northern Colorado. Northern Arizona is now 7-4-2 this season and 3-1-1 in the Big Sky Conference.

NAU Scores Three In Win Over North Dakota
GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The Northern Arizona women’s soccer team looked to get back to their winning ways in the Big Sky Conference as they traveled to Grand Forks, N.D. to face the University of North Dakota. It took 57 minutes but the Lumberjacks scored the first goal off the foot of Demi Schmieder and Adrian Nixt tied the Northern Arizona school record with three assists in one game to defeat North Dakota 3-0. The Lumberjacks are now 6-4-2 on the season and 2-1-1 in the Big Sky.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – After suffering their first loss in the Big Sky Conference, the Northern Arizona women’s soccer team will head back out on the road for a two-match weekend starting on Friday, Oct. 10, against North Dakota and on Sunday the Lumberjacks will face Northern Colorado.

NAU Gives Up Two Goals In Loss to Idaho
Moscow, Idaho – Northern Arizona women’s soccer jumped on the scoreboard first against the University of Idaho but the Vandals responded with two goals in two minutes as NAU suffers their first lost in the Big Sky 2-1 in Idaho. NAU is now 1-1-1 in the Big Sky this season.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – After going 1-0-1 in their first two Big Sky home games of the season, the Northern Arizona women’s soccer team will now head out for their first conference game on the road against the University of Idaho. The Vandals are tied for first place in the Big Sky after a 2-0 start last week with wins over Northern Colorado and North Dakota.

NAU Gets First Big Sky Win Over Sac State
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – To close out Family Weekend at Northern Arizona University, the Northern Arizona women’s soccer team played their second Big Sky game of the season at home against Sacramento State. The Lumberjacks jumped on the board first in the 67th minute off a goal from Haley Wingender and NAU was able to hold on for the 1-0 win over Sacramento State for the Lumberjacks first Big Sky win of the season.

NAU Draws Portland State 1-1 in Big Sky Opener
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women’s soccer team kicked off their Big Sky regular season schedule against the defending regular season champions, Portland State at home under the lights at Lumberjack Stadium. The Lumberjacks played their second straight overtime game, this time at home and after two goals in the first half, NAU and Portland State ended their Big Sky opener in a 1-1 draw. NAU is now 4-3-2 on the season.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women’s soccer team are riding a four-match winning streak into the beginning of conference play as they open their Big Sky schedule at home against the defending regular season champions Portland State on Friday, Sept. 26, at Lumberjack Stadium. NAU will close out the weekend against Sacramento State on Sunday for their first Big Sky home stand of the season.

Tarver Claims Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week
OGDEN, Utah – After three straight shutouts and four wins in a row, Northern Arizona women’s soccer defender Sarah Tarver has been named this week’s Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week. The honor comes after a huge 1-0 double overtime win against UTEP who had lost just one game at home this season. The Lumberjacks are now 4-3-1 this season.

Wingender scores in 101st minute for the 1-0 win
EL PASO, Texas – Last year, UTEP came away with a 4-3 win at Lumberjack Stadium against the Northern Arizona women’s soccer team. Well the Lumberjacks returned the favor to the Miners this year as Northern Arizona scored a goal in the 101st minute to come away with the 1-0 win over UTEP in double overtime. The Lumberjacks end their non-conference schedule on a four-game winning streak heading into conference play.

Soccer takes three-game winning streak to El Paso
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – After an undefeated weekend at home last week against Wright State and in-state rival Grand Canyon, the Northern Arizona women’s soccer team will travel to El Paso, Texas to face UTEP on Sunday, Sept. 21. The Lumberjacks are riding a three-match winning streak with victories over South Dakota, Wright State and Grand Canyon.

'Jacks Notch Two Late Goals, Shut Out the 'Lopes
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – In the midst of a home stretch of six of seven home games, the Northern Arizona soccer team continued to find their stride, notching their third consecutive victory on Sunday, shutting out Grand Canyon, 2-0, at Lumberjack Stadium. The shutout was the team's second of the weekend and third in the last four games.

Wingender’s PK goal gives NAU the 1-0 win over Wright State
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Underneath the lights in their first Friday night home game of the season, the Northern Arizona women’s soccer team were able to perform in front of 595 fans against Wright State. Haley Wingender scored on a penalty kick in the first half and that is all the Lumberjacks needed as Northern Arizona defeated Wright State 1-0 for the Lumberjack’s second straight win.

Soccer Hosts Mountain Classic
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women’s soccer team will host the Mountain Classic this Friday and Sunday as they welcome Grand Canyon, Southern Utah and Wright State to Flagstaff. On Friday night the Lumberjacks will begin the Mountain Classic against Wright State and then on Sunday NAU will conclude the tournament against in-state rival Grand Canyon. The Lumberjacks will not face Southern Utah as they play each other during the conference season.

Soccer Scores Late for First Win of the Season
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women’s soccer team was back on the pitch Sunday against South Dakota searching for their first win of the season and the Lumberjacks delivered their first victory of the season off of an 85th minute goal from Haley Wingender to give NAU the 3-2 win over the Coyotes. The Lumberjacks are now 1-3-1 on the season.

NAU Coaches Luncheon Dates for Fall 2014
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona University Athletics Department has released the dates of the NAU Coaches Luncheon for 2014. The first coaches luncheon will be held on Wednesday, September 3 at Collins Irish Pub located at 2 N. Leroux St. in downtown Flagstaff. All luncheons will be from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., but the location will vary. Admission to all luncheons is free with special lunch discounts.

NAU goes scoreless for second straight match
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women’s soccer team was looking for their first win of the season in their 2014 home opener on Sunday against Valparaiso. In front of 512 fans at Lumberjack Stadium, the Lumberjacks held the Crusaders scoreless for 110 minutes and both teams failed to put any goals on the board in a 0-0 tie in Flagstaff.

NAU allows late goal to give UofA the 1-0 win
TUCSON, Ariz. - The Northern Arizona women’s soccer team was back on the pitch Thursday night in Tucson as they faced the University of Arizona. The Lumberjacks had their best defensive performance of the season but it was not enough against the Wildcats as UofA scored in the 86th minute for the 1-0 win. The Lumberjacks drop to 0-3 this season.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women’s soccer team is back in the state of Arizona and will travel to Tucson on Thursday to face PAC-12 opponent Arizona. The Lumberjacks will then turn their attention to the much anticipated home opener against Valparaiso on Sunday, Aug. 31 at Lumberjack Stadium.

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Northern Arizona women’s soccer team finished their weekend in Las Vegas Sunday in a matchup with UC Riverside. Haley Wingender scored two goals in her return home to Las Vegas but it was not enough as the Lumberjacks fell to UC Riverside 4-2.

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Northern Arizona women’s soccer team kicked off their 2014 season on the road in UNLV Friday night. The Lumberjacks had to battle back from a 2-0 deficit and NAU cut the lead to one after an own goal late in the first half but it was not enough as the Lumberjacks dropped their season opener 2-1 to the Rebels.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The season is finally here as the Northern Arizona women’s soccer team will begin the 2014 season on the road against UNLV on Friday, Aug. 22, in the UNLV Rebel Classic. After Friday’s match against the Rebels, the Lumberjacks will close out the weekend in Las Vegas with a matchup against UC Riverside on Sunday.

Soccer Faces ASU in Exhibition Match
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. –After almost two weeks of training in Flagstaff, the Northern Arizona women’s soccer team will travel down I-17 to face Arizona State in an exhibition match on Friday, Aug. 15 at 7p.m. This will be the second scrimmage for the Lumberjacks; last week NAU played in their annual Blue & Gold game where the squad was split. The Sun Devils are coming off a 9-8-2 season, finishing seventh in the PAC-12. The game will be played on the ASU West Campus which is located at 4781 West University Way South in Glendale, Ariz. There will be no live stats for this contest.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona University and Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Lisa Campos is proud to announce the 2014 NAU Athletics Hall of Fame Class who will be honored at this year’s Hall of Fame Football Game on Nov. 8 versus UC Davis. Comprising this year’s class is two-time All American football player Dan Finn, three-time All-Big Sky First Team soccer selection Cee Cee Odorfer and the 1999-2000 men’s basketball team who advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The 18th Annual Wine & Dine in the Pines will take place Sunday, August 17 at the Hart Prairie Lodge at Arizona Snowbowl. The event will run from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. with over 150 wines courtesy of Southern Wine & Spirits, 21 of the finest restaurants in Northern Arizona and craft beers courtesy of Northland Beverage. NAU Athletics Wins Back-to-Back Big Sky Presidents’ Cup
OGDEN, Utah – For the second straight year, Northern Arizona Athletics has captured the Big Sky Presidents’ Cup presented by Red Lion Hotels. NAU finished first in overall in athletic points for the second consecutive year, in addition to claiming the Big Sky Men’s and Women’s All-Sports Trophies in May.

NAU Captures Men’s and Women’s Big Sky All-Sports Trophy
OGDEN, Utah – Northern Arizona has captured both the men’s and women’s Big Sky All-Sports Trophies, the conference office announced Monday. The Lumberjacks went into the outdoor track championship with the lead, and a sweep by the men’s and women’s teams this past weekend secured NAU the win on both sides. The sweep is the first true sweep by any school since 2000-01.

Women’s Tennis and Swimming & Diving Rank in Top 10 Percent
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Northern Arizona women’s tennis and swimming & diving were both honored by the NCAA for earning Public Recognition Awards, based on their most recent multi-year Academic Progress Rate. These awards are given each year to teams with APRs in the top 10 percent in each sport. This is the second straight year women’s tennis has received the honor.

Forty-Three Student-Athletes to Receive Degrees This Weekend
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Forty-three Northern Arizona student-athletes will receive their degrees from the university this weekend as part of the Spring 2014 commencement ceremonies. When adding in the 15 student-athletes who participated in the Fall 2013 commencement ceremonies, the NAU Athletics Department produced a total of 58 graduates for the 2013-14 academic year.

Women's Soccer Earns NSCAA Team and Individual Honors
KANSAS CITY, Kan. – After a successful season on the pitch and off the pitch for the 2013 Northern Arizona women’s soccer team, seniors Alana D’Onofrio, Lauren Weaver, Elinor Priest and junior Diane Buzzard have been named to the 2013 NSCAA University Division Women’s Scholar All-West Region team. Once again, the Northern Arizona women’s soccer team has earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award after the team had to have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Soccer’s Gamble and D’Onofrio Earn All-Pacific Region Honors
KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The awards continue to file in for the Northern Arizona women’s soccer team after a successful season. Sophomore midfielder Cierra Gamble was named to the 2013 NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Women’s Second Team All-Pacific Region and senior captain Alana D’Onofrio was announced to the Third Team All-Pacific Region.

NAU Soccer 2013 Season Recap
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The 2013 Northern Arizona women’s soccer season was a memorable one and provided a lot of smiles, goals and wins for Lumberjacks Nation. After two years of not reaching the Big Sky Conference Championships, head coach Andre Luciano and the women brought the program back to where it belongs: in the playoffs. Northern Arizona proved the conference coaches wrong finishing way above their preseason ranking despite having multiple players out for the season due to injury. The Lumberjacks’ six seniors will leave the program in better shape and have brought a new life to Luciano’s program.

PORTLAND, Ore. – Northern Arizona and Weber State kicked off the Big Sky Championships in Portland, Ore. in the semifinals. Weber State was able to jump on the scoreboard first and the Wildcats did not look back as Weber State defeated Northern Arizona 3-0.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The Northern Arizona women’s soccer team wrapped up its regular season on the road with two straight wins against Montana and Eastern Washington to end the season in second place in the Big Sky Conference. The Lumberjacks ended the season on a four-game winning streak and have allowed one goal in 360 minutes of play. Northern Arizona clinched second place in the Big Sky Championship tournament on Oct. 25 when they came from behind to defeat Montana 2-1 in Missoula. Number one seed, Portland State, will host the playoffs and face Northern Colorado in the semifinals.

Nine Soccer Players Earn Big Sky All-Conference Honors
OGDEN, Utah – After an excellent 2013 regular season for the Northern Arizona women’s soccer team, eight Lumberjacks were named to the Big Sky All-Conference teams. Senior captain Alana D’Onofrio and sophomore Cierra Gamble were First Team All-Big Sky selections.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – For the second straight year, Northern Arizona women’s soccer senior forward Elinor Priest has been named a CoSida/Capital One Academic All-District Women’s Soccer Team selection for District 8. Priest was named to the Second Team Academic All-District 8 for her achievements on and off the field.

Soccer Wraps Up Regular Season With 2-0 Win over EWU
CHENEY, Wash. – The Northern Arizona women’s soccer team wrapped up its regular season schedule on the road facing Eastern Washington. All five seniors on Northern Arizona’s roster started in their last regular season match ever as Lumberjacks and with two late goals in the second half, Northern Arizona defeated Eastern Washington 2-0 to finish the regular season in second place in the Big Sky Conference with a 7-2 record.

Soccer Heads to BSC Playoffs with 2-1 Win Over Montana
MISSOULA, Mont. – The Lumberjacks began their final road trip of the season facing Montana with their eyes on the Big Sky Conference playoffs. With Northern Arizona being down 1-0 late in the second half, the Lumberjacks refused to quit and scored two late goals from sophomores midfielders Nicole Sherwin and Cierra Gamble to give the Lumberjacks the 2-1 victory over Montana to go 6-2-0 in conference play.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Friday and Sunday’s contests against Montana and Eastern Washington will be the final matches for the Northern Arizona women’s soccer team in the regular season. The Lumberjacks are right in the middle of the Big Sky Conference playoffs sitting currently in second place. Northern Arizona is riding a two-game winning streak defeating Northern Colorado and North Dakota in its final home matches this season. After shutting out both Northern Colorado and North Dakota, senior defender Alana D’Onofrio was named this week’s Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women’s soccer team celebrated Senior Day on Sunday with a 2-0 victory over North Dakota to send the six seniors off with a win. Sherwin's Overtime Goal Gives NAU 1-0 Win
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women’s soccer team faced Northern Colorado Friday night in its last Friday night match under the lights at Lumberjack Stadium this season. All five seniors, Alana D’Onofrio, Shawnee Morgan, Jordan Stenger, Elinor Priest and Lauren Weaver played in their last Friday night match at NAU. After grinding throughout the entire match, the Lumberjacks were able to get a late goal in overtime from sophomore midfielder Nicole Sherwin to give NAU the 1-0 win over Northern Colorado.

Six Seniors, Six Different Paths
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Friday and Sunday’s soccer matches against Northern Colorado and North Dakota will be the final home matches for seniors Alana D’Onofrio, Shawnee Morgan, Jordan Stenger, Elinor Priest, Lauren Weaver and Shelby Foltz. The class has been able to accumulate 27 wins during their time at Northern Arizona and have improved greatly during their four years in Flagstaff.

Final Home Games for Soccer’s Seniors
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Friday and Sunday’s matches against Northern Colorado and North Dakota will be the final two home matches for seniors Alana D’Onofrio, Elinor Priest, Lauren Weaver and Shawnee Morgan. The program will also be honoring senior Shelby Foltz who has been with program for four years after suffering a career ending injury and continued to contribute to the program. These seniors have brought 27 wins to the Northern Arizona women’s soccer program in their careers. With last week’s win over Sacramento State, the Lumberjacks matched last year’s Big Sky win total at three with four matches remaining in the season.

Gamble Scores in 2-1 Loss at Portland State
Portland, Ore. – The Northern Arizona women’s took an early 1-0 lead over the number one team in the Big Sky Conference, Portland State. The Lumberjacks were unable to hold on to the lead in regulation and the Vikings came back to defeat the Lumberjacks 2-1 in overtime.

Soccer Shuts Out Sacramento State in 3-0 Win
Sacramento, Calif. – For the first time this season, the Northern Arizona women’s soccer team scored two goals in the first half, which gave the Lumberjacks the 3-0 win over Sacramento State on the road. With the win, the Lumberjacks are 2-0 this season on the road in the Big Sky Conference. Going into the match, the Hornets were in third place in the Big Sky and the Lumberjacks held Sacramento State to only one shot on goal.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - With last week’s win over the defending Big Sky champions, Idaho State, the Northern Arizona women’s soccer team has surpassed last year’s win total. Northern Arizona has six wins on the year with six matches remaining left in the season. The Lumberjacks are currently in fifth place in the Big Sky Conference trailing Idaho State, Sacramento State, Weber State and Portland State. The Lumberjacks have also scored 17 goals this compared to last year, the Lumberjacks scored 15 goals the entire season. It will be a tough road trip for the Lumberjacks as Portland State and Sacramento State share a combine record of 6-1-1 in Big Sky Conference play.

Wadell Scores First Career Goal in 2-1 Loss
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women’s soccer team went into Sunday’s morning match against Weber State with an undefeated Big Sky Conference record. Like Friday night’s match against Idaho State, the Lumberjacks were again trailing going into the second half and came back to tie the game but eventually dropped their first Big Sky loss to the Wildcats 2-1.

Lumberjacks Late Goal Defeats Idaho State 2-1
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women’s soccer team took on the defending Big Sky champions, Idaho State, in its Big Sky home opener. The Bengals jumped on the scoreboard first, off a goal from Amanda Ellsworth in the 28th minute. The Lumberjacks once again had to climb back from a deficit but like always this season, the Lumberjacks never quit and were able to come back to defeat the Bengals 2-1 to remain undefeated in Big Sky play.

Soccer Begins First Big Sky Home Stand Against Idaho State
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women’s soccer team will begin its first Big Sky Conference home stand this week starting off with preseason number one in the Big Sky, Idaho State. The Lumberjacks began conference play with a thrilling 3-2 double overtime win on the road against Southern Utah with a 40-yard goal from sophomore midfielder Nicole Sherwin. With the win, the Lumberjacks match last year’s win total at five games with eight games remaining in the season. After the first 10 games last season, the Lumberjacks had only scored seven goals; this season Northern Arizona has doubled their scoring thus far with 14 goals. The defense has also improved giving up only 11 goals while allowing 17 last season through the first 10 games. Friday’s match against Idaho State is “Think Pink Night” and the first 200 fans will receive a pink NAU water bottle in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Sherwin’s Goal Gives NAU 3-2 Win in Double Overtime
CEDAR CITY, Utah – The Northern Arizona women’s soccer team kicked off its Big Sky schedule in Cedar City to take on Southern Utah. The Lumberjacks were down twice in the match and fought back in regulation to force the game into overtime. Sophomore midfielder Nicole Sherwin scored with only two minutes left in double overtime to give the Lumberjacks the 3-2 win in double overtime.

Soccer Wraps-Up Non-Conference Play With 1-0 Loss
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women’s soccer team concluded its non-conference schedule against Hawai’i at Lumberjack Stadium with a 1-0 loss in overtime. The Lumberjacks were able to hold Hawai’i scoreless for 97 minutes but in the 98th minute, Tiana Fujimoto was able to score off a Karli Look shot that went of the post. It was a physical game with Hawai’i committing 14 fouls and Northern Arizona with 12.

Muniz Breaks Assists Record in 4-3 Loss Against UTEP
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The Northern Arizona women’s soccer team was down two goals with less than ten minutes left in the match and came back to tie up the game but eventually dropped their first loss of the season to the Miners. UTEP’s Azia Nicholson scored in the 80th minute to put up the Miners 3-1. But the Lumberjacks did not quit and applied pressure until the very last second of play and gave the fans a show. Junior defender Sarah Tarver was able to put the ball in the back of the net from a cross from freshman defender Danny Muniz, which made it 3-2. Less than a minute later freshman forward Lindsay Doyle was able to get her second goal of the season with a goal inside the box off another cross from Muniz. The Miners responded immediately with a goal from Angela Cutaia to take the victory 4-3.

NAU Wraps-Up Non-Conference Play Against UTEP & Hawai’i
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – NAU continues its historical undefeated start this weekend versus UTEP and Hawai’i. Junior defender Sarah Tarver gave the Lumberjacks the win last Friday night against Grand Canyon behind 1,068 fans, the sixth largest crowd ever at Lumberjack Stadium. Senior goalkeeper Lauren Weaver recorded her fourth shutout of the season, which moved Weaver into second place all-time in career shutouts with 15. She trails only Tori Rocke, who holds the record with 21 career shutouts. Tarver also provided the game-tying assist to sophomore Haley Wingender Sunday against Colorado State. Tarver ended the weekend with three points and the Lumberjacks remain in first place of the Big Sky.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women’s soccer team faced Grand Canyon for the first time since the Antelopes made the jump to Division I and the Lumberjacks were able to come out with 1-0 victory to remain undefeated on the season. Junior defender Sarah Tarver put in a header in the 29th minute of the first half and that was enough for the Lumberjacks to pull off the win.

This will be games two and three of a five-game home stand for the Lumberjacks.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – For the second time this season UNLV was held scoreless by an opponent, as NAU shut out the Rebels to give the Lumberjacks the tie 0-0 and remain undefeated on the season with a 3-0-2 record. Going into the match, the Rebels had scored 12 goals in five games and senior goalkeeper Lauren Weaver had six saves on the night holding the Rebels scoreless for 110 minutes.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - For the first time in school history, the Northern Arizona women’s soccer team has started the season 3-0-0 defeating CSU Bakersfield last Friday night, 1-0. The Lumberjacks now have two wins in the state of California. Last Sunday, the Lumberjacks came back late in the second half down a goal and came back and tied the game of a Savannah Berry goal. Berry’s first goal of the season gave NAU the 1-1 tie to remain undefeated.

Wingender Named to College Soccer 360 Weekly Honor Roll
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Sophomore forward Haley Wingender has been named to the College Sports 360 Honor Roll for week one of the soccer season. The Northern Arizona women’s soccer team has started the season 2-0-0 for the first time since 2001, and Wingender had a major impact on both games. In the season opener against Long Beach State on the road, Wingender provided the game-winning assist to Malia Tano. Wingender help beat the 49ers, which were in the NCAA tournament last year on the road.

Soccers Defeats Lamar, 3-2, in Home Opener
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – For the first time since 2001, the Northern Arizona Women’s soccer team starts the season off 2-0 after defeating Lamar in their home opener by a score of 3-2. After being tied 0-0 at halftime, the Lumberjacks had an offense explosion in the second half scoring three goals in 18 minutes. Senior Jordan Stenger started it off in 67th minute with a strike from 30 yards out, scoring her first career goal in her last home opener.

Soccer Shuts Out Long Beach State, 1-0, in Season Opener
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The Northern Arizona women’s soccer team shut out Long Beach State in their season opener and picked up their first win of the season by a score of 1-0. Sophomore forward Malia Tano gets the Lumberjacks first goal of the year just 54 seconds into the second half. Long Beach State came out firing nine shots in the first half, but the Lumberjacks defense was stellar all night giving goalkeeper Lauren Weaver four saves on the night.

Three Lumberjacks Selected to College Sports Madness Preseason All-Big Sky
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The College Sports Madness website has released its Big Sky All-Conference teams. After a strong 2012 season and earning All-Big Sky Honorable Mention selection, NAU goalkeeper Lauren Weaver has been selected to the pre-season All-Big Sky First Team. Last year, Weaver had career bests in save percentage (.841), goals against average (1.16), and shutouts (7). The senior from Winnetka, Calif. comes into the season ranked fourth all-time in NAU history with 226 career saves and 11 career shutouts.

2013 Soccer Season Outlook
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – From 2008-10, the Northern Arizona soccer team rose to the top of the Big Sky Conference with two conference tournament championships and NCAA Tournament appearances in 2008 and 2009 and the school’s first-ever regular season conference title in 2010. However in the two years since, the Lumberjacks experienced a shift in team dynamics moving from a veteran-laden team to squad filled with underclassmen due to the graduation of nearly 30 players from those championship teams.

Monahan Signs Contract with EIF to Play Professionally in Finland
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – For the second year in a row, the Northern Arizona soccer program is sending one of its own to Europe to continue their soccer careers in the professional ranks. Last week, senior Sam Monahan signed a contract to play for Ekenäs Idrottsförening (EIF), a Division II club in Finland, and will leave this week to join the club in preparation for the team’s first game on May 6.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior Jenna Samora's third goal of the season in the 25th minute gave the Northern Arizona soccer team a 1-0 lead, but it was short-lived, as Sacramento State responded with a goal a minute later. In the end, the Lumberjacks played their eighth overtime match of the season Friday night, and came away with a 1-1 draw with the Hornets. The tie was the team's sixth this season, and improved their conference record to 1-1-2.

OGDEN, Utah – By the narrowest of margins, the Northern Arizona soccer team has been picked first by the conference coaches in the 2011 preseason poll. NAU collected 43 points, one point more than Sacramento State’s 42 points, to slightly top the Hornets as the pre-season favorite to claim the conference title. Soccer Upset by Sacramento State in Big Sky Final, 1-0
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Sacramento State junior forward Elece McBride scored in the 52nd minute and the Hornet defense allowed just five Northern Arizona shots on goal as the Lumberjacks fell, 1-0, in the Big Sky Championship Final in Lumberjack Stadium. FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Four years ago, a group of 13 freshmen joined a college soccer program that had a combined 65-112-8 record in 10 seasons as a varsity sport and had never won a conference title. POCATELLO, Idaho – A 30 minute lightning delay and a late start time forced Northern Arizona and Idaho State to a scoreless draw after the game was called after only 72 minutes and 31 seconds of play. The Lumberjacks tied a school record with their fifth-straight shutout and have not allowed a goal in 439 minutes and 35 seconds. Both teams open conference play with the tie, with NAU moving to 5-3-3 overall and Idaho State now 5-6-2.

Those games will take place on Friday and Saturday, respectively, while The Thunderbirds and Falcons will meet in a neutral site game on Sunday. Admission and parking for all three weekend games at Lumberjack Stadium will be free.

Lumberjack Stadium to Get Total Makeover
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Lumberjack Stadium is being torn down, but like a phoenix, it will rise again. Originally built in 1961, it is going away to make way for a newer Lumberjack Stadium that will seat 1,000 sports fans comfortably and serve as an integral part of the new Health and Learning Center.

Samora’s Late Goal Lifts Women’s Soccer Past Portland State, 1-0
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Sophomore Jenna Samora broke a scoreless tie with just four minutes and five second remaining in regulation to lead Northern Arizona to a 1-0 win over Portland State Sunday afternoon at Lumberjack Stadium. NAU won its first conference game of 2009 to improve to 6-6-1 overall and 1-1-0 in the Big Sky while Portland State dropped to 7-6-1 and 1-1-0 in conference.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Junior Kristi Andreassen gave Northern Arizona an early lead, but Sacramento State rallied with two second-half goals to earn a 2-1 victory in both teams’ Big Sky-opener. The Lumberjacks dropped to 5-6-1 overall and opened the conference season at 0-1 while the Hornets improved to 6-3-3.

Rocke Returning to Form as Big Sky Season Commences
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – As a redshirt freshman in 2008, goalkeeper Tori Rocke started all but on game for Northern Arizona on the Lumberjacks memorable run to a Big Sky championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. After missing the first three games of 2009 recovering from off-season shoulder surgery, Rocke has once again assumed the starting role in the Lumberjack goal.

OGDEN, Utah – Junior Midfielder Corie McGuire has been named Big Sky Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. The award is the first for McGuire and the second for Northern Arizona this season, as sophomore midfielder Lauren Zallis was named Offensive Player of the Week on August 24.

TEMPE, Ariz. – On a scorching, 103 degree afternoon in the desert, Arizona State junior forward Karin Volpe tallied two goals and two assists and the Sun Devils allowed only one Northern Arizona shot on a goal in a 4-0 victory. The loss ended NAU’s four-game winning streak, dropping the Lumberjacks to 5-5-1, while Arizona State improved to 7-1-2.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Junior Corie McGuire scored twice, including the game winning goal on a penalty kick in the 72nd minute, as NAU rallied for a 2-1 victory over previously undefeated New Mexico. The Lumberjacks won their fourth-consecutive game to improve to 5-4-1 on the season while the Lobos dropped to 8-1-2.

The Jacks will face Oakland on Friday night and Iowa on Sunday afternoon.
