Game Notes

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Friday and Sunday's matches against Northern Colorado and North Dakota will be the final two home matches for seniors Alana D'Onofrio, Elinor Priest, Lauren Weaver, Jordan Stenger and Shawnee Morgan. The program will also be honoring senior Shelby Foltz who has been with program for four years after suffering a career ending injury and continued to contribute to the program. These seniors have brought 27 wins to the Northern Arizona women's soccer program in their careers. With last week's win over Sacramento State, the Lumberjacks matched last year's Big Sky win total at three with four matches remaining in the season.

 

Series

This will be the 10th meeting between Northern Colorado and Northern Arizona. The Bears have won the last two meeting in Greeley, Colo. scoring seven goals. Northern Colorado is 5-4-0 against the Lumberjacks all-time. Last year was the first meeting between Northern Arizona and North Dakota in Grand Forks, N.D. where the Lumberjacks defeated UND by a score of 4-0.

Scouting Northern Colorado

Northern Colorado has been playing great soccer of lately and is riding a three-match winning streak in the Big Sky Conference. The Bears currently sit third in the Big Sky with a 3-1-1 record in conference play. The Bears are led by sophomore forward Essence Ortiz-Lanier who leads the team with five goals for a total of 10 points. Sophomore midfielder Rebecca Lancia has been great this season handing out five assists. In the last three matches, Northern Colorado has scored at least two goals. Senior forward Danielle Birdsall was named this week's Big Sky co-Offensive Player of the Week after playing a part in three goals over the weekend in wins over Eastern Washington and Montana. In front of the net for the Bears is senior Natalie D'Adamio who has a 1.06 goals against average.

Scouting North Dakota

North Dakota is coming off its first ever win in the Big Sky Conference against Eastern Washington by a score of 3-1. UND is led by freshman forward Zoe Foster who leads the team with four goals this season. Seven different players have scored this season for North Dakota. UND has scored 13 goals in 15 matches this season and are averaging 0.87 goals per game. Junior goalkeeper Kristi Hestdalen has played every minute for North Dakota in front of the goal and has posted a 2.76 goals against average this season with 113 saves, which is first in the Big Sky Conference.
