Scouting Northern Arizona
The awards come after Weaver allowed only one goal in 200 minutes of play this weekend in California against CSU Bakersfield and UC Riverside. Weaver and the rest of the defense were stellar Friday night, shutting out CSU Bakersfield who they had lost to last season in overtime, 3-2. Weaver recorded nine saves against UC Riverside, allowing one goal in 110 minutes of play. NAU was out shot 22-13 and still managed to get the tie, remaining undefeated.
The Rebels have been off to a hot start scoring and relying on their offense. Senior Jenn Wolfe is leading the offensive charge, scoring four goals in just four matches. She also has an assist for a total of nine points. In the four matches played this year, the Rebels have scored 11 goals this season, while only allowing four goals on the season. After gathering a total of five points this past weekend, Wolfe was named this week's Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week. The native of Olathe, Kan., leads the Mountain West in goals and points. Dishing out a lot of those assists for Wolfe is Susie Bernal who leads the Rebels in assists this season with four. Besides Wolfe, UNLV has seven players who have scored this season.
