OGDEN, Utah – For the second consecutive week, the Big Sky Conference has selected NAU senior defender Kristi Andreassen as its Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday. Andreassen also won the award last week after scoring two game winning goals and helping NAU record a pair of shutouts. She is the only player in the conference to have received Player of the Week accolades more than once this season.
Andreassen played all 90 minutes at center back in the Lumberjacks 2-0 upset of Loyola Marymount, whose only two previous losses this season were to ranked teams. The senior from Tempe, Ariz. assisted on the game winning goal off a free kick that bounced off the goalkeeper and was finished by senior Brenna Boies. As a defender, she leads the team with five goals and two assists for 12 points. She has played every minute on defense this season and is the leader of a Lumberjack defense that has recorded three straight shutouts and allowed only 12 goals in nine games this season.
She is a two time All-Big Sky first team selection, a 2009 Academic All-American, and one of 30 nominees nationwide for the 2010 women's soccer Lowe's Senior CLASS Award.
The Lumberjacks conclude non-conference play on Friday, hosting San Francisco at 3 p.m. in Lumberjack Stadium.
