TUCSON, Ariz. - Northern Arizona University's women's golf team completed day one of competition at the Mountain View Collegiate Invitational. NAU finished the day tied for eighth place shooting rounds of 305 and 292 through the first two rounds of play.
"We played very well in the afternoon," said head coach Brad Bedortha. "I was very proud of them being able to bounce back the way they did."
Leading the way for NAU was Kaitlen Parsons contributing a veteran performance to keep the team in contention. Parsons led the way for the Lumberjacks finishing tied for 14th place. The senior compiled rounds of 74 and 73 on the day.
The team as a whole improved dramatically as the day went on finishing thirteen shots better in round two than they did in the first. Rounding out the group for NAU was Melissa Olson (76-78), Jacquie LeMarr (77-71), Susana Mejia (78-74) and Brittany McKee (81-74).
"In the afternoon we just started clicking and really played the holes well," said Bedortha. "To finish up the way we did was great."
The Lumberjacks will wrap up play tomorrow as they look to build off momentum gained in the second round.
