Womens Golfers Qualify for U.S Womens Pub-Links
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. –
Women’s golfers Bethany Leclair and Alexa Kim both qualified
in sectional tournaments for the 2009 U.S. Women’s Amateur
Public Links Championship to be held in Devens, Mass., from June
22-27.
Leclair qualified by shooting a 77 at Papago Golf Club in Phoenix,
advancing as the first alternate. Kim qualified out of a sectional
tournament in Nevada.
Kim played in 2007 and 2008 USGA Women’s Amateur Public
Links Championships with her father caddying. She finished tied for
88th after rounds of 83-83 in 2008 at Erin Hills Golf Course in
Erin Hills, Wisc., and 110th in 2007 at the Kearney Hills Golf
Links in Lexington, Ky., with rounds of 82-77.
Players play 36 holes of stroke play to determine 64 qualifiers
for match play. It is one of 10 Amateur Championships held by the
United Golf Association.
