Kim Loses in Semifinals of AWGA State Amateur Match Play

FOUNTAIN HILLS, Ariz. – Junior-to-be Alexa Kim lost to Brittany Penny in the semifinals of the Open Division Championship Flight of the 2009 AWGA State Amateur Match Play Championship held at the SunRidge Canyon Golf Course.

Kim, the top seed, advanced by defeating No. 16 seed Jill Herbert in the opening round and eighth-seeded Laura Moore in the quarterfinals.

Kim, who hails from Maricpoa, Ariz., was named to the All-Big Sky second team. She played a team-best 29 rounds last season with a 77.9 stroke average, the second-best mark on the team.
