Womens Golf Opens Red Rocks in Second after Day 1
SEDONA, Ariz. – Freshman
Stephanie Kim carded a four-over par 76 to lead Northern Arizona in
the opening day of the Red Rocks Invitational held at the Oak Creek
Country Club. NAU stands five strokes back in second place behind
Cal Poly after the first 18 holes.
Stephanie Kim is in a three-way tie for third place in the
individual standings, one back of teammate Aleah Kim who recorded a
three-over par 75 to tie for the individual lead with Kristen Locke
of Cal Poly. Aleah Kim is playing as in individual in this
tournament.
Junior Dakin Banta is tied for sixth place with a five-over par 77,
while senior Megan Buck posted a seven-over par 79 to tie for 15th
after the first day.
Senior Meghan Bremer and junior Alexa Kim are tied for 21st at 80,
an 8-over par total. Junior Bethany Leclair also recorded an 80
playing as an individual, while senior Lauren Halstead had an
85.
Cal Poly posted a 19-over par 307 to lead the 18-team field with
NAU five strokes back. Eastern Michigan and Montana are tied for
third at 320, while Western New Mexico and Portland are two strokes
back in a tie for fifth at 322.
The second and final round will be played Sunday morning with a
shotgun start starting at 8 a.m.
