Northern Arizonas Bremer Named Golfer of the Week

OGDEN, Utah- Northern
Arizona’s Meghan Bremer has been selected as the Big Sky
Conference Golfer of the Week after tying for third place at the
Lamkin Grip/Cal Poly Invitational.
Bremer, a senior from Scottsdale, Ariz., shot a first-round 74 and
shot an even-par 72 in the second round to finish with a 146, four
shots behind medalist Ashlee Nagamine of Cal State Northridge. This
was Bremer’s second top-five finish of the fall season. Her
72 was a collegiate best, as was her 36-hole total of 146.
The tournament was played on Nov. 1-2 at the Cypress Ridge Golf
Course in Arroyo Grande, Calif.
Bremer helped Northern Arizona to a second-place finish in the
16-team tournament. The Lumberjacks shot rounds of 300, 292 for a
592, just one shot behind Cal State Northridge. Freshman Stephanie
Kim also tied for third for the Lumberjacks.
Six Big Sky teams competed at the tournament, the final of the
fall season. Sacramento State finished fourth with a 611. Weber
State was eighth with a 626. Montana State was 10th at 635. Eastern
Washington was 15th with a 661, followed by Idaho State with a
681.
Samantha Saffold and Julie Shutler of Sacramento State tied for
fifth at 147. Shutler shot a three-under-par 69 in the second
round.
Weber State was led by Natalie Weber, who tied for 13th with a
151. Melissa Hulstrand led Montana State, tying for 19th at 152.
Kylie Ray tied for 36th to lead Eastern Washington, while Katrina
Phillips paced Idaho State, tying for 61st.
