ROAD SPLIT

We topped off our week with a big victory at Portland State Saturday after a loss Thursday at Eastern Washington. Coupled with last Monday’s win at home over Southern Utah, we ended the week with a 2-1 record picking up our first two Big Sky victories in the process.

We are back in the Skydome this week with two important home games. We take on the Bears of Northern Colorado Thursday night and the University of North Dakota on Saturday night. Both games are at 6:30 p.m. and will be televised by NAU-TV and broadcast live by Fox Sports Arizona.

LUMBERJACK ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION APPRECIATION DAY

Calling all LAA members! To show our appreciation, all LAA members will receive a complimentary ticket to our game Thursday night as well as one complimentary ticket for every person in their immediate family. Two additional tickets for guests will be available as well. In addition to complimentary tickets, a hot meal will be served one hour prior to tip-off.

To redeem your complimentary tickets, please RSVP to Ryan Weigand at ryan.weigand@nau.edu no later than 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22.

BUSY WEEK

In addition to two games in the Northwest, the past week included:

Our 1st Annual Team Newlywed Game - A team bonding activity disguised as a game show. Our team held our own version of The Newlywed Game where hotel roommates joined forces and competed as a couple to see who knew their travel buddy the best. Congratulations to the winning couple, Taylor Leyva and Bisera Peshkova. See the attached video to witness all the fun!

MLK Parade and Celebration - On Monday, our team was part of the NAU Athletic Department contingent that participated in NAU’s 27th Annual MLK Day March and Celebration. We marched across campus and then joined in a celebration that included inspirational speeches, songs and poetry.

NAU SAAC Baller’s Ball - The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is a group of NAU student-athletes who meet bi-monthly to discuss student-athlete issues, plan community service projects and give voice from a student-athlete perspective to our athletic department. Monday night our team dressed to the nines and attended SAAC’s 1st Annual Baller’s Ball, a formal dance for all of NAU’s student-athletes.
