FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Northern Arizona women's basketball opens the Big Sky Conference regular season at Idaho State and Weber State this week. The women play on Thursday, Jan. 6 against the Bengals at 7:05 p.m. and Wildcats on Saturday, Jan. 8 at 2 p.m.
NAU (5-8) enters Thursday's matchup against Idaho State fresh off a win against Iona to end the Lumberjacks' non-conference schedule. NAU came into that game on a five-game losing streak but snapped it with a 17-point victory over the Gaels.
Prior to that game, NAU played a pair of Big Ten Conference opponents over the holidays traveling to Northwestern and Minnesota. The women lost to Northwestern, 88-70, and Minnesota, 82-74.
The Lumberjacks have played well at home this season but struggled on the road. The women hold a 5-3 record in Flagstaff, but have yet to win away from the Rolle Activity Center with a 0-5 record on the road.
Last season, NAU went 0-2 against Idaho State and 1-1 against Weber State. The Lumberjacks' victory over Weber State was a 63-62 buzzer beating win delivered by Amy Patton and her 31 points.
