TULSA, Okla. – The Northern Arizona University men's tennis team had its second fall showing this past weekend, Oct. 1-2, at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. Just three Lumberjacks in Sebastian Eguez, Tim Handel and Lucas Taylor competed for Head Coach Ki Kroll in the prequalifying draw featuring 256 players from all over the country.

This was the ITA's first national championship tournament of the 2016-17 campaign featuring the top Division I men's tennis players in the country. On day one, the 'Jacks faced opponents from the University of Southern California, University of Nebraska and Wichita State.

Taylor, Handel and Eguez all dropped their singles matches to start off the weekend, but put up a fight against some of the best talent they will see all season long. Eguez headlined the action as he was able to notch a digit in the win column on Sunday, Oct. 2 against Arkansas's Austin Robles in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. In the current ITA Rankings, Arkansas is ranked 20th as a team.

On the final day, Handel gave Ricky Medinilla – from 50th ranked Purdue – a run for his money to open up his match, but ultimately fell 7-6(3), 6-3. Taylor was paired with Alexandre Felisa from Richmond, but also dropped a close match 7-5, 6-2. Kroll and the Lumberjacks will be back in action at the University of New Mexico Balloon Invitational that will take place Oct. 7-9.
