Lumberjacks Fall to Montana 4-1 in Big Sky Semifinals

GOLD RIVER, Calif. – The Northern Arizona men's tennis team tournament run came to an end in the Big Sky Championship semifinals as Montana defeated the Lumberjacks 4-1. NAU finishes the season with a 13-9 overall record and a 7-3 record in the conference.

NAU fell behind early dropping the doubles point as Montana took the early 1-0 lead. The Lumberjacks did get a win in doubles at the No. 1 court from Alexandre Locci and Jordan Gobatie as they took down Ethan Vaughn and Semion Branzburg 8-3.

Gobatie continued his winning ways during singles as he won his match on the No. 2 court. Gobatie took care of Andrew Warren in two sets 6-3, 6-3 for NAU's lone win in the match. Gobatie ends the season with an 11-9 overall record in singles and on a three-match winning streak in singles play.

The Northern Arizona men's tennis program was never predicted to be one of the final four teams left in the Big Sky and head coach Ki Kroll proved the doubters wrong and completely turned around this program. NAU tallied 13 wins, the most since 2010 and the future is bright for this tennis program as they lose one senior, Alan Barrios, from this year's squad.
