This will be the 28th meeting all-time between Northern Arizona and Montana. Last year's matchup went in favor of the Griz 6-1, in Montana. Montana was picked to finish second in the conference while NAU was picked to finish 10th.
Coach Kroll Quote of the Week
"We're really looking forward to playing Montana, a very strong team on Sunday. All week we've been working very hard to prepare. Our intensity is up, so we should have a great effort and it should be an exciting match."
Black Earns Player of the Week
After an excellent weekend for the Northern Arizona men's tennis team, junior Kester Black has been named this week's Big Sky Player of the Week. Black had an outstanding week as the Lumberjacks went 2-1 and Northern Arizona has won four of their last five matches. Two weeks ago, the Lumberjacks were in 10th in the Big Sky and since then, the Lumberjacks are 4-1 and Black has not lost a singles match in that time.
The Kroll Effect
Last year, the Northern Arizona men's team won six matches last year and their final win came on April 13 against Southern Utah. Fast forward to this season under new head coach Ki Kroll, the Lumberjacks already have already surpassed last year's win total with seven. Kroll's squad grabbed its sixth win on March 19 against Northern Colorado, almost a month before last season. The Lumberjacks were picked to finish 10th in the Big Sky preseason poll and the Lumberjacks currently sit in sixth, which would put them in the Big Sky Championships.
