Men's Tennis Takes One Singles, Doubles Match on Day 2 in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The NAU men's tennis team came away from the second day of the UNLV Fall Invitational with one singles win and one doubles victory, just as they did on Day 1 of the tournament.
Sophomore Dominic Bermudez returned to singles action after sitting out the first day of the tournament with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Geoff Hernandez of Portland. But as a team, the Lumberjacks went just 1-5 on the day against opponents from Portland, with all five losses in straight sets except for junior Shaun Waters' 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 loss to Alex Ferrero.
Seniors Robin Pezzutto and Ben Lantz teamed up for the Lumberjacks' only doubles victory of the day, defeating Portland's Justin Guay and Jackson Martin, 8-5. Just as was the case in singles play, NAU was matched up with the Pilots of Portland in all three doubles matches, coming away 1-2 in doubles action.
The Lumberjacks will wrap up the UNLV Fall Invite tomorrow before heading back to Flagstaff.
