Pezzutto Wins Twice, Men’s Tennis Falls to No. 58 New Mexico State, 6-1

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Junior Robin Pezzutto claimed a win at No. 3 singles and teamed with senior David Flodberg for a win at No. 3 doubles as NAU dropped a 6-1 decision to No. 58 New Mexico State Friday in Las Cruces. The Lumberjacks moved to 2-5 on the season while the Aggies improved to 5-4.

The Lumberjacks almost claimed the doubles point, as Flodberg and Pezzutto posted an 8-6 win at No. 3. New Mexico State picked up an 8-6 win at No. 2, leaving the doubles point up to the No. 1 match. At the top doubles position, NMSU's Jim Brouleau and Matej Stakne outlasted Lumberjacks Dominic Bermudez and Hugo Ramadier, 9-8, to give New Mexico State the first point of the match.

In singles, Pezzutto rallied for a 0-6, 7-5, 1-0 (13-11) victory over Stakne at No. 3. The five remaining singles matches, however, were won in straight sets by the home-standing Aggies. Ramadier battled No. 75 Arthur Surreaux in a 6-4, 6-3 decision at No. 1 while Lumberjack sophomore Patrick Schimmelbauer pushed Brouleau before falling 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 as the Aggies went on to a 6-1 victory.
