Reiff, Ramadier, Flodberg on All-Big Sky Mens Tennis Team
OGDEN, Utah Sophomore Andrew Reiff earned his second All-Big Sky first team selection, leading three Lumberjacks honored on the 2010 Mens Big Sky All-Conference Tennis team. Freshman Hugo Ramadier was named to the second team while junior David Flodberg was honorable mention for the second-consecutive season. The three selections for the Lumberjacks were the most for the program since 2007.

Mens Tennis Falls in Big Sky Final to Sacramento State, 4-0
SACRAMENTO, Calif. A pair of doubles wins and three singles victories in straight-sets propelled Sacramento State to its second-consecutive Big Sky title with a 4-0 win over Northern Arizona in the conference final Sunday afternoon. The Lumberjacks, who were playing in their first Big Sky Championship final since 2001, end the season with a 13-9 record, their first winning overall record since 2002.

Mens Tennis in Big Sky Final after 4-1 Win over Weber State
SACRAMENTO, Calif. The doubles point and three singles wins gave Northern Arizona a 4-1 win over Weber State in the semifinals of the Big Sky Championship, advancing the Lumberjacks to their first Big Sky final since 2001. Sacramento State swept Montana, 4-0, in the other semifinal to advance to face NAU in the championship match on Sunday afternoon.

The students attended university classes throughout the morning and toured campus facilities with Lumberjack student-athletes.

Flodberg Looking to Lead Mens Tennis in Big Sky Championship
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. The only junior on a team with no seniors and nine freshmen and sophomores, David Flodberg has been pressed into a leadership role earlier than he ever anticipated. The native of Gothenburg, Sweden has taken to his elder status on the team and led NAU to its first winning season since 2002 and a second-place finish in the Big Sky regular season standings.

The win began a regular season ending, four match trip to the Northwest for the Lumberjacks and elevated their season record to 10-8 while Gonzaga dropped to 5-11.

Men's Tennis Blanked by New Mexico, 7-0
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. Playing on the road for the first time in a month, Northern Arizona was swept in both singles and doubles as New Mexico cruised to a 7-0 victory on Sunday afternoon in Albuquerque in a match that was originally scheduled for Tuesday but was moved up at the last minute. The Lumberjacks lost their second-consecutive match without the services of No. 1 singles and doubles player Andrew Reiff, dropping to 8-6, while New Mexico improved to 5-7.

Tennis Teams Volunteering Time to Help Youth Development
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. Over the past month, all of the members of the Northern Arizona mens and womens tennis teams have spent time assisting youth players in the Flagstaff Junior Tennis Academy (FJTA). Held at the Lumberjacks home courts at Flagstaff Athletic Club East, team members have spent time with both the advanced and beginner/intermediate boys and girls groups to aid in their development and demonstrate a high-level of tennis to which the youth can aspire.

Outstanding Student-Athletes Honored with Golden Eagle Awards

Golden Eagle Distributors, Inc., honored 167 Northern Arizona University student-athletes for their scholastic and athletic accomplishments at the 32nd annual Golden Eagle Awards on Thursday. The Golden Eagle Awards recognize NAU student-athletes who have made significant contributions to the Lumberjack athletics program while maintaining a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average.

Montana Rallies to Defeat Men's Tennis, 4-3
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. After Northern Arizona claimed the doubles point and singles wins at No. 3 and 4, Montana rallied to win the last-four matches of the contest to record a 4-3 victory on Friday in the Lumberjacks final home match of the season. The loss ended a 10-match home winning streak for NAU and dropped the Lumberjacks to 8-5 overall and 3-1 in the Big Sky while Montana evened its season record at 3-3 and moved to 2-0 in conference.

Winter Olympics Close to Home for Mens Tennis Freshman Taylor
Kevin Taylor, a freshman starter on the Northern Arizona mens tennis team, is spending his first year away from his home in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, located just an hour and a half by ferry from Vancouver, the host site for the 2010 Winter Olympics. Though Taylor is enjoying his time in Flagstaff, he is understandably disappointed to be away from home as his native land is in the world spotlight for two weeks as the host of the Olympics.

Northern Arizona won two of three doubles matches and five of six singles battles to upset Sacramento State, the team picked to win the Big Sky, 6-1 in both teams season opener on Thursday in snowy Flagstaff. The win for NAU was its first over the Hornets since a 4-3 victory in Sacramento in 2005, while the loss for the Hornets ended a streak of 24 consecutive Big Sky regular season victories dating back to April 1, 2006.
