SEATTLE, Wash.  – Sophomore wing Felix Rivera-Vega registered 11 points and six rebounds and senior forward Ako Kaluna had 10 points and five rebounds as Northern Arizona fell to Washington 92–58 at the Alaska Airlines Arena tonight.

"I thought we defended very well in the first half, but in the second half our approach wasn't quite there," said head coach Jack Murphy. "You have to give credit to Washington, they were very talented. For us, we've got to be more consistent and have a better overall effort from here."

NAU went 10-for-35 from the field to start the game with half of those made shots coming from behind the arc. The Lumberjacks had three players with two fouls a piece, but kept the first half close despite shooting 28.6 percent from the floor for the period. The Lumberjacks trailed Washington 38-26 at intermission with Jordyn Martin and Marcus DeBerry each having five points apiece.

A 21-0 run by the Huskies (2-1) midway through the second half upped Washington's lead to 72-34. During the stretch, NAU went almost five full minutes without knocking down a shot.

The Lumberjacks (1-4) were able to connect on a few shots from there with the help of freshman Brooks DeBisschop, who in only his second game this season had nine points and six rebounds in 22 minutes of play.

Preseason All-American Markelle Fultz led the Huskies with 16 points, eight assists and seven rebounds. Matisse Thybulle added 15 points, while Noah Dickerson recorded 12 points and eight rebounds.

Neither team shot particularly well from the free throw line, both recording under 64 percent. NAU edged the Huskies in made 3-pointers eight to seven, but it was Washington's 51 percent shooting on 39 made field goals that gave the home team the main advantage and the victory.

NAU will continue its very busy schedule as it travels to UNLV for a Tuesday night matchup at 8 p.m. The Lumberjacks will stay in Las Vegas and compete in the Global Sports MTE Classic on Friday and Saturday. Friday NAU will play Alabama State at 2:30 p.m., and then Cal State Fullerton or Jacksonville State Saturday at a time to be determined.
