OGDEN, Utah – The Northern Arizona men's basketball team will open up the 2016 season in four weeks, as it has been picked to finish 10th by the coaches and 11th by the media in the Big Sky Preseason Polls that were released today by the league office.

Weber State was picked to win the conference by both the league head coaches and the media. In the coaches poll, Idaho, North Dakota, Montana, and Idaho State closed out the top five. In the media poll, Montana, Idaho, North Dakota, and Eastern Washington rounded out the top five.

Head Coach Jack Murphy enters his fifth season with the Lumberjacks, who finished 2015-16 with a 5-25 overall record and 3-15 mark in league play. NAU returns 10 letterwinners, including senior forwards Ako Kaluna and Jordyn Martin. Kaluna averaged 12.4 points and 7.2 rebounds per game last season. Martin, the 2015 Big Sky Defensive Player of the Year, returns to the court after sitting out the majority of last season due to injury.

Twelve home games, featuring non-conference games against San Diego, CSU Bakersfield, and Arkansas-Little Rock, are part of a tough schedule ahead for NAU.

The Lumberjacks open the season on Friday, Nov. 11 at Santa Clara in the Cable Car Classic. NAU will host Benedictine Mesa on the Navajo Nation of Tuba City on Nov. 17. NAU's first game on campus will be Dec. 3 versus San Diego.

Northern Arizona men's basketball season tickets are available by calling the season ticket office at 928-523-0639.
