Lumberjack Men’s Hoops to Begin Practice on Saturday

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. –With a new NCAA rule in place the Northern Arizona men's basketball team will begin its official practice this Saturday, about two weeks earlier than in the past. The Lumberjacks will hit the hardwood at 8:30 a.m. at the Rolle Activity Center as they continue to prepare for the 2013-14 season, their second under head coach Jack Murphy.

With the new rule change that took place in April, the NCAA now allows teams to have 30 days of practice in the 42 days before their first regular season game. The Lumberjacks open the season on the road at UTSA on Nov. 9.

NAU returns three starters and five lettermen led by sophomore DeWayne Russell, senior Max Jacobsen and junior Gaellan Bewernick. The Lumberjacks have added 11 newcomers to their roster.
