White Out Game Set for Senior Day against Weber State

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona men's basketball team continues its push to qualify for the Big Sky Conference Tournament against Weber State Saturday at 2:05 p.m. at the Walkup Skydome.

The Wildcats have already clinched a postseason berth at 15-2 overall in league play, one game behind leader Montana (15-1). NAU enters the game in a tie for fourth place overall. The top seven teams qualify for the conference tournament.

Fans are encouraged to wear white to the game. The first 1,500 fans will receive FREE white rally towels and Papa John's will also give out free pizza coupons to the first 2,000 fans.

The Lumberjack Auction for Athletic Scholarships will be hosted prior to the game from 11:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. in the Skydome. Tickets are $20.00 per person if you already have a basketball game ticket or $30 without a game ticket. The auction ticket price includes entry to the auction, a game ticket in the reserved seating area, lunch courtesy of Jake's on the Green and a pre-game "chalk talk" from Men's Basketball Head Coach Jack Murphy.

The Wildcats enter the game with an eight-game winning streak, including seven straight league games and a win over Oral Roberts in the BracketBuster event. Weber State has not lost since losing on Jan. 26 at Montana. The Wildcats defeated the Lumberjacks in Ogden 83-70 on Jan. 17.

"Saturday is a big game," said Murphy. "Not only because of the opponent Weber State but because of the five seniors we are going to celebrate. The careers of the seniors on and off the court as basketball players and human beings have been outstanding."

Seniors Ephraim Ekanem, Luis Flores, Michael Dunn, Gabe Rogers and Stallon Saldivar will be recognized in pre- and post-game ceremonies.

"They are a very special group," said Murphy.

Junior Davion Berry leads the Wildcat team in scoring at 14.9 points per game, while shooting 50 percent from the field and 44 percent beyond the 3-point arc. Senior Scott Bamforth scores 12.8 points per game, while sophomore Kyle Tresnak has averaged 12.0 points per game this season.

Weber State leads the conference in both scoring offense (75.8) and scoring defense (60.8) for the season, while leading the league in field goal percentage, field goal percentage defense, 3-point field goal percentage and 3-point field goal percentage defense.

"Beating a team of Weber State's caliber would be a monumental win for our program and where we want to head," said Murphy. "Eventually we want to be on par with Weber State and having people talk about when NAU is coming to town. It is a big game for us and in terms of the conference standings. We are going to leave everything we have on the floor."
