Men’s Basketball Hosts Eastern Washington for “I Love the 80’s Day”

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona men's basketball team will took to extend its two-game winning streak Saturday against Eastern Washington. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. at the Walkup Skydome.

The first 1,000 fans will receive Neon Blue #NAUtakeover glasses for "I Love the 80's Day". There will be discounted food items and contests throughout the game for the best 80's outfits.

The game will be broadcast on FOX Sports Arizona Plus, Fox College Sports Atlantic and NAU TV and will be aired on the Lumberjack Radio Network on 105.1 FM The Big Talker and online on the Big Talker website and The Big Talker mobile app. The game can be seen online on Big Sky TV and on NAU-TV.

"Eastern Washington is very talented," said Head Coach Jack Murphy. "We saw the breadth of their talent when we were in Cheney earlier this year. They can shoot the basketball and have some size and athleticism on the front line that posed a whole lot of problems for us up there."

Eastern Washington took control of the game midway into the first half and cruised to the 23-point victory on Jan. 10. The Eagles had four players in double figures led by Collin Chiverton, who had a game-high 22 points. Venky Jois scored 14 points and Martin Seiferth contributed 13 in the game for the Eagles. The Lumberjacks shot just 34.9 percent for the game and were out-rebounded by 12 (49-37).

NAU is tied for sixth place with Sacramento State at 6-7, two games ahead of Northern Colorado and Eastern Washington at 4-9 and two games ahead of Portland State and Idaho State at 3-10. The top seven teams qualify for the Big Sky Tournament. Montana leads the conference at 13-0.

The Eagles are averaging a league-leading 8.5 three-point makes per game but shoot just 33.7 percent (8th in the conference).

NAU has won two straight games for just the second time this season. The Lumberjacks are 9-14 overall and 6-7 in the Big Sky Conference. NAU won just one conference game last season among five total victories.
