Denver Nuggets Coach George Karl Highlights NAU Coaches Clinic

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Denver Nuggets Head Coach George Karl will join other NBA, collegiate and high school coaches at the Lumberjack Coaches Clinic Aug. 3-4 at the Rolle Activity Center in Flagstaff.  The Lumberjack Coaches Clinic features on-court demonstrations as well as chalk talk sessions from some of the top coaches from the NBA, collegiate and prep ranks.

"There is a lot of excitement," said NAU Head Coach Jack Murphy. "One of the things I hold dear is my relationship with Coach Karl. It means so much to me. It is exciting for me to bring such a great man and someone who has been so successful in basketball and life to Flagstaff."

Karl will speak on Friday night with Nuggets assistant Chad Iske and Noel Gillespie of the Phoenix Suns. Charlotte Bobcats Head Coach Mike Dunlap will speak Saturday afternoon among eight scheduled speakers.

"The general platform is to learn and come together as a community of basketball coaches," said Murphy. "It is a great chance to get our program's name out there. We are going to be players in this state and this region. There has been a great response from the coaches."

Among the coaches scheduled to speak: Josh Pastner, Memphis Head Coach; Mike Dunlap, Charlotte Bobcats Head Coach; Noel Gillespie, Phoenix Suns Assistant Coach; Damon Stoudamire, Memphis Assistant Coach; James Whitford, Arizona Associate Head Coach; Chad Iske, Denver Nuggets Assistant Coach; Al LaRocque, Former Coach at Durango High School. NAU Head Coach Jack Murphy and his staff will also participate.
