FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Freshman James Douglas and junior Stallon Saldivar combined for 35 points to lead Northern Arizona to a 103-42 victory over Arizona Christian Friday night at the Rolle Activity Center.
"It is always nice to win after the way that we lost last weekend," said Durrell Norman after the game. 'We knew what it took tonight. We brought the energy and effort that we needed and should have brought last week."
NAU (1-3) snapped its three-game losing streak, shooting 57 percent for the game and out-rebounding the Firestorm 49-18. The Lumberjacks scored 42 points in the paint and recorded 26 second-chance points.
Saldivar recorded a career-high 17 points with a season-high nine assists, Douglas notched 18 points in his first career home. Norman had his first career double-double with 11 points and a career-high 12 rebounds. Junior Michael Dunn chipped in a career-high 13 points off the bench and Ephraim Ecanem had 11.
The game was tied three times in the first three minutes before the Lumberjacks took charge. NAU went on a 14-2 run to extend the lead to double digits at 21-9 with 11:11 left. NAU led at the half 47-20 before shooting 72 percent in the second half, extending the lead to 40 points at the 14:41 mark.
The Lumberjacks host Northern New Mexico Tuesday, Nov. 22 before the Thanksgiving break. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
